Bumped start, raced 3 wide slightly behind midfield, 3-1/2L back, same margin back on turn, kept on same pace in straight.
Sat worse than midfield, traveled fairly, limited response when asked.
Began only fairly from gate 1, raced prominently on the middle track, kept on well until approaching 100M, weakened gradually final 50M.
Crowded start, raced 3 wide slightly better than midfield, peaked on run 500M, weakened early in straight when hard run took toll.
Taken back from gate 12, raced at rear, 4 to 5 lengths back turning in, made some progress in straight.
Blundered shortly after start, tracked leaders on the outside, challenged the leader turning in, took the lead early in straight, peaked and headed 75M, weakened gradually thereafter.
Began only fairly, raced at rear, 7 lengths or so back in the middle stages, made good progress final 400M without threatening.

DEEP FIELD, the son of NORTHERN METEOR, was trained by Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes with a record of 5 wins, 1 second and 1 third in 8 starts while he got first five wins in a row until placing 3rd in G1 Lightning Stakes. Although he is only a G2 winner, he is welcomed by the breeders since his sire passed away and he is known as precocious with great speed. 42 runners of him won the black type contests including 2021 Hong Kong Sprint winner SKY FIELD, two times South African G1 winner AL MUTHANA, G1 Oakleigh Plate champion PORTLAND SKY and Hong Kong's second Triple Crown winner VOYAGE BUBBLE. Newgate Farm had announced that DEEP FIELD has been retired from stallion in 2023. QUARTZ LEGEND was owned by current owner family and trained by Les Bridge in Australia with 2 wins and 1 second in 3 starts. After 3 barrier trials, he sat handy early and brought wider by other runner but quickened well to win on his debut in a 1000M race at Kembla Grange, then took part in a 1000M event and became a short-handed favourite but could only ran on for a 2nd behind 7.3Ls at Kembla Grange. On his last overseas attempt at 1000M, he scored with style by racing handy. His dam PANE IN THE GLASS was G3 Silver Shadow Stakes winner and his full-sister XILONG was G2 winner and 2nd runner up in G1 Surround Stakes. The chestnut gelding just lightly raced that should be fine to handle 1400M to 1600M and fine at the city track.
