Stewards' Comments
Made contact at start, sent forward to take the lead, led by 1/4L turning in, kept on well early in straight, peaked and headed approaching 200M, weakened thereafter.
Incident Report
Sent for sampling post-race.
Bumped shortly after start, raced slightly better than midfield, 2-1/2L back turning in, finished off strongly to score.
Incident Report
Jumped only fairly and then shortly after the start was checked when crowded between GRIT SPIRIT and SUGAR SUGAR (E C W Wong) which shifted out. E C W Wong was advised to exercise more care. Sent for sampling post-race. Leaving the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of COOL BOY to continue into clear running and as a result made contact with OUTGATE.
Began smartly from gate 13, raced prominently on the outside, there to turn, peaked on run 300M, weakened gradually thereafter.
Incident Report
Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with CHATEAUNEUF. Trainer W K Mo confirmed that from a wide barrier and with the horse stepping up to 1200 Metres he had instructed A Badel to go forward as he was of the opinion that there was not strong pace engaged in the event.
Average to begin, raced 2 wide towards rear, 5-1/2L back turning in, made good progress in straight without threatening the first few.
Incident Report
Z Purton stated that the intention was to hold a handy position. He said from his wide barrier he was obliged to make use of his mount to go forward in the early stages and race outside the lead to avoid covering additional ground. He said this resulted in COOL BOY racing in a more forward position than intended. Trainer J Richards confirmed the instructions were to be handy but accepted the reasons as to why the horse was obliged to race in a more forward position. Sent for sampling post-race.
Away well, raced 2 wide in midfield, there to turn, kept on same pace in straight.
Incident Report
No report.
Taken back from the widest draw, raced at rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, made good progress early in straight, no clear run approaching 150M, made no progress thereafter.
Incident Report
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Taken back from a wide draw, raced at rear on the outside, still well back on turn, made very good progress in straight to be nearest on line.
Incident Report
Near the 450 Metres, when racing keenly, improved to the inside of SUGAR SUGAR as that runner was being shifted to the inside of LUCKY CANDY. As a result SAVVY BRILLIANT was steadied to avoid SUGAR SUGAR. Held up for clear running over the final 400 Metres and near the 150 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between LUCKY CANDY and COOL BOY.
Taken back to race 3 wide towards rear, 6 lengths or so back, same margin back on turn, made no impression in straight.
Incident Report
Jumped only fairly. Shortly after the start became unbalanced when it made contact with GRIT SPIRIT. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Clean jump, raced 2 wide better than midfield, a length or so back turning in, took the lead approaching 200M, peaked and headed 150M, ran on evenly to the line. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
No report.
Began well from gate 1, positioned 1-1/4L behind the leader on rail, easy run to turn, showed good response in straight, took the lead 150M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner close home.
Incident Report
Leaving the 200 Metres was bumped.
Began awkwardly and made contact, raced slightly behind midfield on the outside, 5 lengths back turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
Between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres was held up for clear running. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Began awkwardly, raced 2 wide behind midfield, 5 lengths back turning in, made no progress in straight.
Incident Report
Shortly after the start became unbalanced when crowded between THUNDER KIT and PEGAS.
Began only fairly, raced behind midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, angled out 450M, not enough room early in straight, cleared 200M, one-paced thereafter.
Incident Report
Jumped only fairly. From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Slightly slow out, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, unable to obtain clear run until final 50M, finished off evenly.
Incident Report
Bumped at the start. Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
