Tracked leader 2-wide, came under pressure to challenge on straightening gaining upper hand just inside the 100M.

Soon took up running setting a steady pace, gained 1L advantage shortly after straightening, unable to sustain effort and outsprinted inside final 100M.

Shared 6th on rail about 3L off pace early, gained closer to just over 2L back in 5th in slackened tempo home bend, switched out for a tight run just inside the 300M gaining 3rd 50M out. (Questioned for his riding in straight.)

When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight and the reason he elected to shift to the outside of MASTER LUCKY near the 250 Metres, J Orman stated that his instructions were to hold a midfield position but he was issued with no specific instructions as to where to position the horse in the Home Straight. He said after following HAROLD WIN into the race he observed a run become available between HAROLD WIN and MASTER LUCKY at which point he then started to ride his mount along to improve. He said under its top weight of 135 lbs JOYFUL JOY did not respond strongly to his efforts and as he was concerned that the run between MASTER LUCKY and HAROLD WIN might close, he elected to shift JOYFUL JOY to the outside of MASTER LUCKY near the 250 Metres to secure clear running. He added that after making contact with SOLID CAR, his mount became unbalanced before continuing to respond to his riding but did not make any appreciable ground on the first or second placegetters. Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions and stated that, in his opinion, Jockey Orman would have been better suited by persevering for the run between HAROLD WIN and MASTER LUCKY. After considering his explanations and the manner in which JOYFUL JOY finished the race off, the Stewards advised Jockey Orman that, in their opinion, he had made an error of judgement by shifting to the outside of MASTER LUCKY when the run remained available between MASTER LUCKY and HAROLD WIN. Sent for sampling post-race.

Pressed forward after moderate start from the widest barrier before settling 3-wide without cover in 5th just over 2L back, 3L 6th 3-wide rounding home bend, ran on in straight without threatening.

Jumped only fairly and then was hampered when bumped by LUNAR DASH which shifted out.

Settled in 4th about 2L off the pace, commenced move between runners entering home straight but unable to quicken under pressure throughout.

Near the 200 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by JOYFUL JOY which shifted out. Near the 150 Metres was hampered when taken wider by JOYFUL JOY.

Settled well back from a wide barrier, keen when tempo slackened approaching first bend, snuck closer to within 5L of pace on rail in 11th into straight, ran on without threatening.

Jumped only fairly. H Bowman confirmed that from a wide barrier he had been instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Prominent early, gradually shifted back to worse than midfield in 9th, inconvenienced when tempo slackened 800M out, baulked until clear run 300M out near the centre of the track, ran on steadily to be nearest at finish

Soon picked up to midfield after moderate start, kept on same pace without quickening in home straight, looked beaten when steadied 150M out.

Jumped only fairly. Near the 200 Metres JOYFUL JOY (J Orman) shifted to the outside of MASTER LUCKY and made contact with SOLID CAR. A short distance later JOYFUL JOY was then taken out by MASTER LUCKY (A Atzeni), resulting in JOYFUL JOY shifting out and away from MASTER LUCKY and taking SOLID CAR out across TURBO JEFFERIES which was steadied. Both J Orman and A Atzeni were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Soon recovered to just worse than midfield on rail after moderate start, saved ground turning in for home, one-paced.

Soon taken well back from a wide barrier travelling mainly 4-wide without cover, made headway towards rear inside the 850M, one of the widest into straight, ran home one-paced while hanging out under pressure.

Shifted out at the start and was bumped. K Teetan stated that after settling back in the field his mount hung out when placed under pressure in the Home Straight and proved difficult to ride out. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Soon settled in last few, widest runner into home straight, never seen with a chance.

Approaching the 800 Metres got its head up when racing ungenerously.

Began well from a wide barrier gradually settled just over 1L back in 3rd 3-wide without cover, carried 4-wide into home straight and soon weakened under pressure.

Broke well from a wide barrier and soon taken back to last few, became last on straightening despite saving ground on rail, soon detached.
