Approaching the 250 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of TIME TO FIRE. Over the concluding stages C L Chau dropped his left rein for a number of strides. Sent for sampling post-race.

Moderately away, showed no early speed, raced at rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, one-paced in the run home.

Over the final 100 Metres lay out and approaching the winning post its rider R Kingscote was obliged to stop riding and straighten his mount when it shifted out.

M Chadwick stated that the instructions were to hold a handy position. He said from a wide barrier he was required to make use of the horse in the early stages to comply with his instructions and as a result BUCEPHALAS did not finish the race off after being placed under pressure in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, BUCEPHALAS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Near the 200 Metres the whip of L Ferraris was knocked from his grasp by the whip of H Bentley, rider of DASHING MAURISON. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. Before being allowed to race again, GLORIASTAR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began well, raced 2 wide better than midfield, wider on turn, hard ridden from 300M, took the lead 100M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner final 50M.

A Atzeni stated that he was instructed to settle his mount where comfortable. He said the horse jumped well but in the early stages did not show early pace and when he was concerned there was something amiss with it he eased it down from the event in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of PEARL OF PANG’S, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PEARL OF PANG’S will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
