Bumped shortly after start, raced 2 wide slightly behind midfield, there to turn, made contact near 350M, unable to obtain clear run in straight.

Bounded on jumping and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages and for some distance near the 1000 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from VOLCANIC SPARK.

Bumped shortly after start, positioned 2 wide, 1 to 2 lengths back, there to turn, peaked early in straight, ran on evenly to the line. (Lame right front leg next day morning.)

Crowded on jumping between NEZHA and MULTIDUTCH which shifted out. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. When questioned H Bowman stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to find cover on the horse. He said when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to settle further back in the field to ensure that he complied with his instructions to obtain cover. When questioned regarding his riding from the 600 Metres and the reason his mount was held up for clear running in the Home Straight after improving to the inside of SPECIAL HEDGE, H Bowman stated that from the 600 Metres he did not wish to make a forward move as he was concerned had he shifted out that SPECIAL HEDGE would force his mount wider. He said as a consequence he remained racing behind SPECIAL HEDGE and when that runner then shifted out near the 500 Metres AUDACIOUS PURSUIT, which was travelling well, then improved to the inside of SPECIAL HEDGE. He added that when SPECIAL HEDGE did not continue to improve into the race AUDACIOUS PURSUIT then became held up for clear running when he was required to shift his mount to the outside of SPECIAL HEDGE in the early stages of the Home Straight to obtain clear running. He said after he improved to the outside of SPECIAL HEDGE leaving the 300 Metres AUDACIOUS PURSUIT finished the race off in a satisfactory manner. After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Bowman were reasonable in the circumstances.

Away well, positioned 3 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, kept on same pace in the run home.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SPLENDID FORCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Began well, positioned 1 to 2 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, finished off well to take 2nd without threatening the winner.
