Near the 600 Metres was eased to avoid SEWARD. Lay in in the Home Straight and proved difficult to ride out.

Jumped awkwardly. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 900 Metres improved to the inside of STAR SATYR and got its head up when awkwardly placed to the inside of that runner. Near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid MONARCH COUNTY. Briefly held up for clear running near the 400 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. Before being allowed to race again, LUCY IN THE SKY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After being loaded into the starting gates reared, resulting in the horse becoming cast when it got its left leg over the starting gate partition. Was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. The Stewards ruled that FAMILY KNIGHT will be required to attend barrier practice to the satisfaction of the Starter prior to performing satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again. Apprentice P N Wong sustained an injury to her right leg and was transported to hospital for medical treatment.
