Near the 500 Mettes shifted out and made contact with GROOVY FEELING. When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer P C Ng stated that the horse was disadvantaged at its most recent starts by settling back in the field and also being caught wide at its last start. He said today GOOD FORTUNE was advantaged by holding a more forward position and had pleased him in its most recent barrier trial on 31 August 2026 leading into today’s race. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped with them, positioned a length behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, kept on well in straight to take 2nd without threatening the winner.

Began only fairly from gate 1, raced behind midfield on rail, 3 lengths back on turn, no clear run early in straight, made good progress thereafter to take a place.

Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running.

Jumped well from a wide draw, raced in 2nd, 2 wide, same position on turn, took the lead 300M, peaked and headed approaching 100M, weakened gradually thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)

L Ferraris reported that his mount lay out under pressure in the Home Straight.

Shortly after the start shifted out and made contact with GIMME FIVE. A Badel stated that the intention was to be more forward but his mount failed to show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so.

Out with rest, raced towards rear on the outside, 5 to 6 lengths back turning in, made minor progress in the run home. (See Racing Incidents.) (Blood in trachea.)

Approaching the 900 Metres, when racing keenly, was steadied when crowded between EMERGING STAR which shifted out slightly and RISING ELITE (K Teetan) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. K Teetan was advised to exercise more care. When questioned Z Purton stated that after being steadied near the 900 Metres his mount then commenced to race keenly and refused to settle. He said after being crowded SUNNY Q settled further back in the field than what he had intended and he was satisfied with the horse’s finishing effort in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUNNY Q will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped only fairly, trapped 4 wide, slightly better than midfield, showed some response early in straight, peaked 150M, weakened gradually thereafter.

Jumped only fairly. Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Made contact at start, raced in midfield, 3 wide, wider turning in, made no impression in straight.

Near the 500 Metres made contact with GOOD FORTUNE when endeavouring to hold its position to the outside of GOOD FORTUNE.

Made contact at start, raced 2 wide better than midfield, there to turn, showed limited response early in straight, weakened gradually inside final furlong. (Jockey dropped whip near 200M.)

Near the 200 Metres rider Y L Chung dropped his whip. Passing the 200 Metres was steadied when crowded between POWER PATCH and SO MY FOLKS (H Bowman) which shifted to the outside of RUNJEET as RUNJEET shifted out. H Bowman was advised to exercise more care. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Made contact shortly after start, raced 2 wide behind midfield, there to turn, kept on same pace until no clear run final 50M. (See Racing Incidents.)

Jumped only fairly. Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between GOOD FORTUNE and YEE CHEONG RAIDER which shifted out. In the middle stages raced keenly. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up behind POWER PATCH. K C Leung reported that his intention was to be more forward but after being crowded shortly after the start GIMME FIVE settled further back than intended.

Fast into stride, sent forward to take the lead, travelled well in the middle stages, headed near 300M, weakened final 150M.

E C W Wong stated that he was obliged to make use of the horse in the early stages to lead the event. He said as a consequence in the Home Straight VERBIER failed to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Away with them, raced behind midfield on outer, very wide turning in, failed to close off in straight.

Near the 800 Metres was hampered when bumped by EMERGING STAR which shifted out. Near the 500 Metres was hampered when bumped by EMERGING STAR which shifted out to improve. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
