From wide draw dropped back to race at the rear further back than intended, 9Ls off the pace middle stages, still some work to do top of the straight, closed off fastest to lead inside 150M. Won convincingly.
Tracked leaders against rail, well placed into home straight and followed winner through 350m out, stayed on well but always held.
Made contact at start, sent forward to take the lead, led by 1/4L turning in, kept on well early in straight, peaked and headed approaching 200M, weakened thereafter.
Average to begin, raced 2 wide in midfield, 3 lengths or so back, 3 wide turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened gradually inside final furlong.
Jumped well from gate 10, raced 2 wide better than midfield, 3 wide turning in, showed some response early in straight, peaked on run 200M, weakened thereafter.

REDWOOD was a homebred of Juddmonte Farms. The former Khalid Abdullah’s runner was trained by Barry Hills and his son Charles Hills, after Barry retired, with a record of 4 wins, 6 seconds and 1 third in 17 starts including winner of G1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes and placing 2nd in Dubai Sheema Classic and Hong Kong Vase. He joined the stallion roaster in 2012 and stationed in New Zealand with 14 black type contests winners including three-time Australian and New Zealand G1 winner, 2022/23 New Zealand Horse of The Year, SHARP 'N' SMART, and G1 Toorak Handicap and Doomben Cup champion ANTINO. His service fee in 2025 is NZD$ 10,000. NYX GLUCK is the homebred of Australian famous breeder/owner Gerry Harvey that sold at NZD$ 160,000 in 2023 NZB Ready To Run Sale where he finished 200M in 10.50s during the breeze up run. His dam LA PARFAITE is just ordinary as a broodmare with 8 foals that only one could win among Australia and New Zealand. Former Goodwood Handicap winner PERFECTLY READY and Gerry Harvey-owned BELLE DU JOUR, champion of Golden Slipper and Newmarket Handicap are his family members. As a son of REDWOOD, the bay gelding should be most suited over mile or upper in distance and fine on soft going, also has no issue at the city track.
