Jumped awkwardly and then was bumped shortly after the start. From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the event A Atzeni stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. He said he was issued with such instructions as CHAMPION INSTINCT had been racing disappointingly at its most recent starts when being ridden in a more forward position.

Taken back from the widest draw, raced 3 wide at rear, very wide turning in, failed to close off in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Shifted in at start and made contact, sent forward to take the lead, led by a length in the middle stages, peaked and headed early in straight, weakened 300M, eased final 150M. (See Racing Incidents.)

After the event H Bentley stated that his mount responded to his riding in the early part of the Home Straight but over the final 200 Metres gave ground and he could offer no explanation for its failure to finish the race off strongly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Jumped well from a wide draw, sent forward to race prominently, 2 wide, there to turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong.

Approaching the 300 Metres improved to the inside of ROMANTIC PARTY where there was not sufficient room to do so. As a result RUBY SAILING raced tight to the inside of ROMANTIC PARTY and made contact with that runner near the 250 Metres. Apprentice P N Wong was advised to exercise more care and must ensure that there is sufficient room when she is improving into runs. After the race Apprentice Wong reported that her mount made a respiratory noise during the race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.

Shifted out shortly after start and made contact, raced better than midfield on the inside, sat right behind the leader turning in, no clear run early in straight, cleared after passing 200M, made no progress thereafter.

Jumped awkwardly. Near the 300 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of AMAZING FUN to obtain clear running.

Near the 250 Metres was bumped by RUBY SAILING, resulting in its rider M F Poon having to correct his mount. After the event M F Poon stated that with blinkers being applied for the first time he was instructed to go forward on the horse.

Slightly slow out, raced at rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, made minor progress early in straight, peaked 200M, weakened gradually final 150M.
