After the event, B Avdulla stated that when caught wide in the early stages he elected to continue to allow his mount to stride forward to avoid covering additional ground.

Jumped only fairly. Approaching the 300 Metres was held up for clear running when improving into a narrow run between FRANTANCK and MUST GO and as a result did not obtain clear running until after the 200 Metres.

Bumped on jumping. After the event, L Hewitson reported that his mount did not show its usual early pace and as a result took some time to be able to race outside the lead. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.

At declaration time, A Hamelin was declared as the rider of both JOLLY RULER and FUN TOGETHER. It was established that A Hamelin had a firm commitment to ride JOLLY RULER. As such, the Stewards permitted M Chadwick to be substituted as the rider of FUN TOGETHER. For this declaration error, A Hamelin was fined $2,000. After the event, M Chadwick reported that his mount raced too keenly in the lead and as a result was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
