Began well, sent forward to take the lead, led by a length, shared lead with rival from 650M, peaked and headed 400M, weakened early in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
Approaching the 250 Metres improved into a narrow run to the outside of TALENTS AMBITION and then raced tight between TALENTS AMBITION and FIGHTING MACHINE until passing the 200 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began smartly, positioned 1-1/2L behind the leader on rail, angled out 450M, showed limited response early in straight, weakened gradually inside final furlong.

Incident Report
In the middle stages raced keenly and approaching the 900 Metres was steadied away from TURIN MASCOT. A short distance later FIGHTING MACHINE was shifted out and then raced wide and without cover from the 800 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

Moderately away, raced towards rear on the inside, saved ground throughout, showed no response in straight, eased final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
Shortly after the start shifted in and made contact with APACHE PASS. Approaching the 150 Metres was shifted to the outside of TURIN MASCOT to obtain clear running and then over the concluding stages raced tight between TURIN MASCOT and FIGHTING MACHINE.

Jumped with them, positioned 2 wide, a length or so back, shared lead 600M, peaked and headed 450M, weakened early in straight, eased thereafter. (Bled.) (See Racing Incidents.)

When questioned regarding his mount leading, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that from an inside barrier he was instructed to hold a forward position and also to ensure that his mount commenced well as it had a tendency to begin only fairly in its recent starts. He said with the hood being removed for tonight’s race PERFECT TEAM jumped well and responded to his urgings in the early stages which resulted in the horse being able to lead the event.

Began only fairly, raced at rear on the outside, 5 lengths back turning in, passed some tired runners in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
Jumped awkwardly. Approaching the 100 Metres was placed in restricted room when racing tight between TURIN MASCOT and PERFECT TEAM (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted out. Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care. After the event, H Bentley reported that his mount enjoyed a comfortable run throughout the race and after initially responding to his riding in the early part of the Home Straight was left without a strong finishing effort over the concluding stages, but he could offer no explanation for the performance. Trainer M Newnham advised that he was satisfied with the performance of TALENTS AMBITION and, in his opinion, would derive benefit from tonight’s second up performance, particularly with the horse stepping up 450 Metres in distance from its first up run. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began well from gate 1, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, angled out 400M, no daylight run early in straight, cleared 250M, finished off evenly.

Jumped only fairly and was bumped shortly after the start.

Slightly slow out, raced at tail, 6 lengths or so back turning in, failed to close off in straight.

Out with rest, raced better than midfield on the outside, commenced move 500M, took the lead 400M, kept on very well in straight, won by 1-1/2L.

Crowded shortly after the start between SUPREME AGILITY and FIGHTING MACHINE which shifted in slightly. Then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Moderately away from a wide draw, raced 2 wide, 4 lengths or so back, 3 wide approaching 800M, moved closer on turn, finished off well to take 2nd, no threat to the winner.
