Settled in midfield, came under pressure onto home bend, one of the widest into straight, ran on to assert authority close to home.

Broke well from a wide barrier, obtained rails run in front 1000M out setting a steady pace, kicked some 2L clear on straightening but unable to sustain effort inside final 100M and collared close to home.

Close up early, gradually drifted 3L back to 4th when tempo increased in back straight, gained 3rd from a tiring runner onto home bend and fought on steadily in home straight, did best work late.

Settled in last few, forced to check between 500 and 450M, produced strong late finish inside final 150M despite minor interferences.

Noted to have blood in the mouth at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Near the 500 Metres was severely checked to avoid CALIFORNIA BAY when that runner gave ground when being corrected by its rider. Held up making the Home Turn. Approaching the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving to the outside of JOLLY COMPANION which shifted out.

Ridden to soon recover from moderate start to 5th within 3L of pace, drifted over 4L back when tempo increased at about 800M, slightly further back in 6th 500M out, fought on steadily in straight without threatening.

Not far off 4-wide early stages, gradually improved to 2L 2nd 2-wide 900M out, kept on under pressure from a similar position into home straight but could find no extra 150M out.

3-wide in midfield early stages, taken back towards rear in 8th into back straight, hung in and unbalanced causing interferences 500M out, kept on same pace from 7th into straight.

Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between LUCKY MCQUEEN which shifted out after making contact with TACTICAL COMMAND and HAPPY SHOOTER which was taken in by LEAN MASTER (Apprentice P N Wong) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Apprentice Wong was advised in similar circumstances she would be expected to straighten her mounts sooner than what she did on this occasion. When questioned K Teetan stated that after receiving crowding at the start his mount settled further back than intended. He said near the 500 Metres after being contacted by TACTICAL COMMAND, CALIFORNIA BAY hung in and as a result he was required to correct his mount to prevent it from crowding TACTICAL COMMAND. He added that as a result CALIFORNIA BAY became unbalanced and lost ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Soon taken well behind from the widest barrier, commenced move inside the 600M to be 3-wide rounding home bend, kept on at the one pace in the run to the line.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 500 Metres was hampered when taken wider by SPIRIT OF PEACE which shifted out when being severely checked.

Ridden to the front briefly before taken over 2L back to 3rd 900M out, became 4th some 4L back 600M out, kept on early in straight before swamped inside final 100M.

M F Poon reported that his mount did not appreciate the "Good to Firm” track conditions.

Lacked early pace, ridden to soon recover to 7th some 6L back on rail in back straight, tightened and lost a stride 500M out, ran home one-paced in straight.

Shortly after the start made contact with LUCKY MCQUEEN. A short distance later TACTICAL COMMAND was steadied when crowded between NEW POWER and LUCKY MCQUEEN. Near the 500 Metres shifted out when being steadied to avoid JOLLY COMPANION and as a result made contact with CALIFORNIA BAY. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Well back dropping to tail-end inside the 600m, made no impression thereafter.

Prior to the start being effected lunged forward, made heavy contact with the starting gates and as a result broke through before being quickly restrained. Acting on veterinary advice that GAMEPLAYER ELITE was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, GAMEPLAYER ELITE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
