Approaching the 1200 Metres raced keenly when it was steadied to avoid SERAPH GABRIEL. Between the 500 Metres and the 350 Metres made contact with SERAPH GABRIEL on a number of occasions as it prevented SERAPH GABRIEL from shifting out.

Average to begin, sent forward to race prominently, 2 wide, hard ridden from 600M but only showed limited response, weakened early in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Between the 500 Metres and the 350 Metres made contact with AWESOME FLUKE on a number of occasions when it endeavoured to obtain clear running to the outside of SWORD POINT. Near the 350 Metres SERAPH GABRIEL was disappointed for clear running and then was held up until near the 250 Metres. After being shifted to the inside of SWORD POINT passing the 250 Metres to obtain clear running then raced tight to the inside of SWORD POINT until near the 100 Metres.

Slightly slow out, raced at tail, 8-1/2L back turning in, made little progress in straight.

Jumped only fairly. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 200 Metres Y L Chung dropped his whip. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Made contact at start, raced 2 wide behind midfield, moved a bit closer after passing 700M, wide into straight, made some headway in the run home.

Approaching the 450 Metres was held up for clear running behind VOYAGE SAMURAI as that runner commenced to give ground.

Jumped with them, raced 2 wide in midfield, improved after passing 800M, challenged the leader turning in, kept on well in straight to take 2nd, always held.

Jumped only fairly. Z Purton stated that his mount raced too keenly during the race and as a result was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began smartly from gate 1, sent forward to take the lead, travelled comfortably to turn, kept on well in straight to hold off the challengers.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, VOYAGE SAMURAI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

The performance of NEW FOREST, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NEW FOREST will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
