Slightly slow out and crowded, raced 2 wide towards rear, 5 lengths or so back turning in, made good progress in straight to make frame.

Began well from a wide draw, positioned 2 wide, 1-1/2L back, carried wider turning in, showed very good response in straight, hit the front 150M, kept on strongly to the line, won comfortably.

Sent for sampling post-race. H Bowman was fined $2,000 for using the whip on consecutive occasions in 2 consecutive strides near the 250 Metres.

Jumped well, positioned 2 wide slightly better than midfield, angled out 350M, finished off well to take 2nd without threatening the winner.

Bumped at the start. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Began smartly from gate 9, took the early lead, headed near 800M, a length back on turn, showed some response early in straight, peaked on run 150M, weakened gradually final 100M.

Bumped at the start. L Hewitson stated that the instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner but after jumping well it held a more forward position than what had been intended.

On jumping shifted out and away from PERFECT GENERAL. For some distance approaching the 250 Metres lay in when racing tight between GIDDY UP and TURIN CHAMPIONS. COME FAST FAY FAY continued to lay in for the remainder of the event and proved difficult to ride out to the finish. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Bumped start, raced 3 wide in midfield, no cover throughout, very wide turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened gradually final 100M.

On jumping shifted out and made contact with the left side of its starting gate and then shortly after shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of GREAT STATE. Making the first turn commenced to race keenly and got its head up when positioned close to CALIFORNIA DEEPLY. VIGOR ELLEEGANT continued to race keenly in the middle stages. Making the Home Turn was held up for clear running behind SPEEDY TRIDENT. After the 300 Metres VIGOR ELLEEGANT had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of SPEEDY TRIDENT. Passing the 150 Metres was eased and shifted to the outside of CALIFORNIA DEEPLY to continue into clear running.

Average to begin, raced towards rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, showed limited response early in straight, weakened gradually final 100M.

J McDonald could offer no explanation for his mount’s failure to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Began only fairly from a wide draw, raced behind midfield on the outside, 4 to 5 lengths back turning in, showed limited response early in straight, made contact near 200M, eased thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)

Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up for clear running between CALIFORNIA DEEPLY and GREAT STATE which was giving ground.

Began awkwardly and lost ground, raced at tail, 7 lengths or so back on turn, angled out early in straight, made contact near 200M, made very good progress final 100M to be nearest on line.

Bumped on the hindquarters at the start. M Chadwick reported that after enjoying a comfortable run during the race his mount did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight and would derive a fitness benefit from tonight’s experience. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Approaching the first turn near the 1000 Metres, when racing keenly, got its head up when crowded by KING GLORIOSO (L Ferraris) which shifted in when not clear before being corrected by Jockey Ferraris. Jockey Ferraris was reprimanded and advised in the circumstances he should correct his mounts sooner than what he did. After being crossed by KING GLORIOSO near the 1000 Metres then continued to race keenly and approaching the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid KING GLORIOSO.

Began well from the widest draw, sent forward to race prominently on the outside, took the lead near 800M, led by a length turning in, peaked and headed 150M, weakened final 100M.
