Commenced well, positioned 2 wide, 1-1/2L back, showed good response early in straight, peaked on run 100M, ran on evenly to the line.

Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Moderately away, raced slightly better than midfield on the outside, found rail near 700M, angled out 450M, finished off strongly to take 2nd.

Leaving the 200 Metres improved into a narrow run between COLOURFUL WINNER and AEROINVINCIBLE. Near the 100 Metres raced tight between AEROINVINCIBLE and COLOURFUL WINNER. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped only fairly, raced 2 wide behind midfield, angled out 500M, 5-1/2L back turning in, made good progress in straight to be nearest on line.

On jumping was crowded between CHAMPION METHOD and AMAZING DUCK which shifted in. In the middle stages raced keenly. Approaching the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid AEROINVINCIBLE. Near the 250 Metres was hampered when taken wider by FORERUNNER which shifted out.

Average to begin, raced in midfield, 3 lengths or so back turning in, kept on same pace in straight.

Near the 450 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of FORERUNNER. Leaving the 200 Metres improved to the inside of CALIFORNIA BAY and became held up behind COLOURFUL WINNER and was steadied to avoid that runner. As a result STRANGE ALERT did not obtain clear running until near the 100 Metres when it shifted to the inside of COLOURFUL WINNER to obtain a narrow run to that horse’s inside.

Began only fairly, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, one-paced in the run home.

In the early and middle stages raced keenly. For some distance leaving the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid COLOURFUL WINNER. Near the 100 Metres was steadied when crowded between CALIFORNIA BAY which was taken out slightly by COLOURFUL WINNER and ENDUED which shifted in.

Shifted in at the start and was bumped. After the event M F Poon stated that his mount raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result gave ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Taken back from gate 10, raced towards rear on the outside, 8 lengths or so back, travelled greenly in the early stages, found rail near 700M, same margin back turning in, made no impression in straight.
