Jumped with them, raced 2 wide slightly behind midfield, similar position on turn, kept on same pace in straight.

Near the 1100 Metres was bumped on the hindquarters by TOP DRAGON and became unbalanced. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped well, raced prominently early, positioned 2 wide better than midfield after passing 900M, 2 lengths back turning in, hit the front 250M, kept on very well in straight to hold off the challenger late.

On jumping made heavy contact with the left side of its starting gate, resulting in its rider H T Mo also making heavy contact with the starting gate and becoming unbalanced.

Bumped start, raced at rear on the outside, 8 lengths or so back, same margin back turning in, made no impression in the run home.

After the event J Orman stated that the intention was to hold an on-pace position preferably with cover. He said in the early stages he elected to continue forward to cross runners to his inside which resulted in his mount leading the event.

Jumped only fairly and then shortly after the start was crowded between WAVE GARDEN and RISING FROM ASHES, both of which shifted ground.

Approaching the 400 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between BEAUTY BOLT and WAVE GARDEN which was commencing to give ground. After being shifted to the inside of WAVE GARDEN leaving the 400 Metres TOP DRAGON was then able to be ridden out until near the 250 Metres when it was steadied when disappointed for clear running between SUGAR SUGAR and FIND MY LOVE which resulted in TOP DRAGON being held up between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres. Over the final 150 Metres TOP DRAGON could not be fully ridden out when awkwardly placed close to SUGAR SUGAR. Z Purton was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1100 Metres he endeavoured to improve into a run where there was insufficient room to do so between RISING FROM ASHES and THE RED HARE, resulting in TOP DRAGON having to be checked when disappointed for that run and also resulting in BEAUTY ALLIANCE, which was following, having to be steadied to avoid TOP DRAGON. In accordance with previous practices, Z Purton was fined the sum of $120,000 in lieu of a two-day suspension. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Away well, sent forward to take the early lead, headed near 950M, 2nd in the middle stages, showed some response early in straight, peaked 150M, ran on evenly to the line.

Near the 1100 Metres was steadied away from TOP DRAGON. Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race. Before being allowed to race again, MR BOLT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Shifted in at start and bumped, sent forward to race prominently, took the lead near 950M, led by 1-1/4L turning in, peaked and headed 250M, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)
