Ridden to muster early pace before settling some 2L back in 3rd or 4th on rail, further off the pace when tempo increased home bend, commenced move into straight, ran on under pressure to just prevail inside the 150M.

Taken well back from the widest barrier and waited with, commenced move on rail home bend saving ground for 2.5L 7th into straight, obtained clear run back on rail 200M out, ran on dourly under pressure to just fail.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Sent for sampling post-race

Vied for lead early crossing to rail in front just inside the 1100M, kicked 2L clear briefly rounding home bend before joined into straight and eventually headed inside the 200M. (Riding in home straight questioned.)

Near the 150 Metres shifted out and away from LIGHT YEARS CHARM when that runner shifted out slightly. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight H Bowman stated that after leading the event he allowed the horse to shift out and away from the running rail when it was racing in a comfortable rhythm. He said he then commenced to urge his mount along near the 400 Metres to continue to improve when firstly challenged by WINNING OVATION. He added that when LIGHT YEARS CHARM improved to his inside COPARTNER PRANCE continued to respond to his urgings and after the 200 Metres he applied full vigour to the horse where it continued to respond strongly to his riding to the finish. When questioned if there was an opportunity to ride his mount with more urgency before the 200 Metres Jockey Bowman stated that as he felt the horse was at its top whilst being encouraged forward he did not feel it necessary to use the whip until near the 200 Metres.

Towards rear in 7th after beginning from a wide barrier about 6L off the pace, went widest turning for home, ran on well inside final 300M and did best work late.

In the early stages raced keenly and got its head up when being shifted in behind PATCH OF COSMO to obtain cover.

Broke well before settling just off the pace in 2nd on rail, angled out to challenge turning in for home holding every chance before finding no extra inside final 100M.

Soon taken back to last few from a wide barrier, became last 800M rounding home bend trailing the field until running on well past beaten runners inside final 200M.

Never better than mid-division of the small field, commenced move from over 2L back in 5th into straight but unable to make any impression throughout.

Broke well before settling just over 2L back in 4th, gained 3rd but in a similar 2-wide position 1100M out, unable to quicken under pressure in home straight and weakened noticeably inside final 100M.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Travelled keenly in 5th mainly about 4L off the pace, further away when tempo increased rounding home bend, switched wide to challenge into straight but soon faded under pressure. (Lame)

Jumped only fairly. K Teetan reported that his mount raced too keenly and as a result was not able to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, PATCH OF COSMO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
