After the event, K C Leung confirmed that his instructions were to hold an on-pace position but preferably with cover. He said when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to allow his mount to stride forward and lead the event to avoid racing wide.

Began fairly, positioned 1 to 2 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, no daylight early in straight, cleared approaching 200M, finished off strongly, nearest finish.

Jumped only fairly. Held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres and again was unable to obtain clear running between the 100 Metres and the 50 Metres when positioned behind DRAGON FOUR SEAS.

Bumped shortly after start, positioned 2 wide, 2 to 3 lengths back, found rail 600M, same margin back turning in, no clear run early in straight, ran on evenly thereafter.

Near the 100 Metres, when commencing to give ground, was eased when momentarily crowded between TEAM HAPPY and DOUBLE WIN which shifted out. After the event, M L Yeung confirmed that from an inside barrier he was instructed to take up a more forward position today.

Began well from gate 1, raced prominently on the inside, there to turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final 250M. (See Racing Incidents.)

Approaching the 150 Metres shifted in abruptly before being corrected by its rider. After the event, A Atzeni stated that his intention was to hold a more forward position, however, SUNNY DA BEST failed to show sufficient pace to do so despite his efforts. He added when caught wide in the early stages he attempted to find cover, but after being crossed by STRATHPEFFER was obliged to race very wide and without cover from the 1000 Metres when his mount was taken wider by JUBILANT WINNER. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
