Bumped start, raced behind midfield on the outside, very wide into straight, made very good progress in straight to be nearest on line. (See Racing Incidents.)

Bumped shortly after start, positioned 2 wide, 2 to 3 lengths back, found rail 600M, same margin back turning in, no clear run early in straight, ran on evenly thereafter.

When questioned, M Chadwick stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position but was not given any specific instructions to lead. He said after his mount commenced well, he was obliged to make use of it in the early stages to cross runners to his inside. He said passing the 1000 Metres he was obliged to continue forward to cross CALL ME GLORIOUS which resulted in him being slightly in advance of WUNDERBAR. He said when Z Purton, the rider of WUNDERBAR, was positioned away from the rail and he was riding his mount with restraint, he elected to allow BOTTOMUPTOGETHER to continue to stride forward and cross to the lead. He added although he was aware that this resulted in the early stages of the event being run inside of standard time, he felt, given the circumstances of the race, this was the best option for BOTTOMUPTOGETHER to obtain the best possible placing in the field as if he was to restrain his mount and race outside WUNDERBAR, this would have resulted in his mount racing keenly. After considering his explanation, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Chadwick were reasonable in the circumstances. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began fairly, positioned 1 to 2 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, no daylight early in straight, cleared approaching 200M, finished off strongly, nearest finish.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced 2 wide towards rear, angled out after passing 500M, 4 lengths back turning in, made some progress in the run home.

Approaching the 350 Metres shifted in and away from SUPERB CAPITALIST and became awkwardly placed behind BUNDLE OF CHARM, resulting in SING DRAGON being held up until near the 300 Metres.

Began well from gate 1, raced prominently on the inside, there to turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final 250M. (See Racing Incidents.)

Shifted out at start and bumped, sent forward to take the lead, 2 wide, travelled well to turn, hard ridden 300M, kept on well but unable to hold off the first two close home.

Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. Jumped a mark on the track near the 170 Metres.

Bumped start and unbalanced, positioned 3 wide with cover, 2-1/2L back, there to turn, finished off strongly, just beaten by a narrow margin.

After the event, L Hewitson could offer no explanation for his mount’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CALL ME GLORIOUS was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, CALL ME GLORIOUS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Near the 600 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from CALL ME GLORIOUS. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running near the 200 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Moderately away, raced 2 wide behind midfield, angled out 450M, unable to obtain clear run until approaching final 100M, finished off very strongly, led close home.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the event, C L Chau reported that with the fast early pace SON PAK FU was under pressure throughout the event. He said on today’s "Good to Firm” surface, he had concerns with his mount’s action and when not in a competitive position, he discontinued from riding it out in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SON PAK FU, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SON PAK FU will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
