Fast into stride, sent forward to take the lead, led by 3/4L turning in, kept on well early in straight, peaked and headed 75M, ran on evenly to take 2nd.

Near the 300 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of KNOW AT HEART to obtain clear running. In the Home Straight lay out and near the 200 Metres shifted out abruptly, resulting in its rider Y L Chung having to stop riding and straighten. Over the final 100 Metres GOOD LUCK HAPPY then shifted out when it continued to lay out. Sent for sampling post-race.

Near the 200 Metres was hampered and taken wider by GOOD LUCK HAPPY which shifted out. L Ferraris stated that the intention was to hold a forward position. He said when caught wide in the early stages he attempted to obtain cover. He said when SONIC PURSUIT crossed to the one-off position near the 600 Metres this resulted in FATAL BLOW being obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter.

Bumped start, raced 2 wide in midfield, similar position on turn, showed limited response early in straight, blocked near 100M, eased thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)

Taken back from the widest draw, raced 2 wide at rear, 7 lengths or so back turning in, made some progress early in straight, blocked approaching 150M, cleared 100M, finished off well to take a place.

Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by KNOW AT HEART which jumped awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. When commencing to finish the race off well was steadied near the 50 Metres when disappointed for clear running between YEE CHEONG SPIRIT and WINNING NOW and as a consequence was unable to be ridden out to the finish.

Out with rest, raced behind midfield on the outside, very wide turning in, failed to make any progress in straight.

Shortly after the start was eased when racing in restricted room between GOLDEN BRILLIANT which was taken out by SONIC PURSUIT and CALIFORNIA BLITZ which shifted in slightly. Near the 200 Metres was hampered and taken wider by FATAL BLOW. M L Yeung stated that his mount was disadvantaged by the early and middle stages of the event being run inside of standard time which resulted in the horse not travelling well in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.

Bumped start, raced 2 wide behind midfield, travelled keenly in the early stages, found rail near 700M, saved ground on turn, made some progress in straight, no threat to the first few.

Shifted out at the start and was bumped. A Atzeni could offer no excuse for the horse’s disappointing performance. Trainer J Richards advised that the horse had pleased him prior to the race and the only explanation he could offer was that SONIC PURSUIT was disadvantaged by racing wide in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
