Made contact at start, tracked leaders on the stands' side, hard ridden after passing 300M, finished off well to take 2nd, no threat to the winner.

Jumped only fairly. Near the 700 Metres was steadied to avoid STEPS AHEAD. A short distance later was shifted to the outside of STEPS AHEAD and as a result made contact with YOUNG CHAMPION near the 600 Metres. Near the 150 Metres was steadied and shifted out and away from YOUNG CHAMPION when that runner was bumped and taken wider by HONG LOK GOLF (H Bentley) which improved into a tight run between STEPS AHEAD and YOUNG CHAMPION. H Bentley was reprimanded. In this incident SAGACIOUS LIFE was taken out and as a consequence made contact with TALENTS AMBITION.

Jumped well from gate 13, sent forward to take the lead on the stands' rail, hard ridden approaching 300M but only showed limited response, headed 250M, kept on evenly to take a place.

Near the 700 Metres was hampered when taken wider by SHANWAH which shifted out when being steadied to avoid SAGACIOUS LIFE. Bumped near the 600 Metres. Near the 150 Metres was bumped by HONG LOK GOLF and became unbalanced. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Away well, taken back to race behind midfield on the middle track, hard ridden from 350M but only showed limited response, weakened final 150M.

K Teetan stated that he was obliged to steady his mount near the 600 Metres to avoid SHANWAH and in the Home Straight his mount finished the race off reasonably well. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MICKLEY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Moderately away from gate 14, raced in midfield on the stands' rail, hard ridden approaching 300M, kept on evenly to the line.

Jumped awkwardly and then became unbalanced when bumped by TALENTS AMBITION which shifted in. For a short distance after the 100 Metres could not be fully ridden out when racing tight to the inside of PRAY FOR MIR.

As the start was effected sat back in the barriers and consequently was slow to begin. The barrier manners of CHIU CHOW SPIRIT were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHIU CHOW SPIRIT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. H Doyle reported that in this incident CHIU CHOW SPIRIT got its head up, resulting in it making contact with her head. Jockey Doyle was subsequently examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil her remaining riding engagements. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.

SHANWAH, which was leaning on the left side of its starting gate, jumped awkwardly and made contact with MR ASCENDENCY. Near the 700 Metres shifted out when being steadied to avoid SAGACIOUS LIFE. SHANWAH then improved to the outside of SAGACIOUS LIFE (J McDonald) as that runner was being shifted to the outside of STEPS AHEAD, resulting in SHANWAH having to be steadied when crowded between YOUNG CHAMPION and SAGACIOUS LIFE. J McDonald was severely reprimanded and advised he must ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground. K De Melo reported that his mount raced keenly and as a consequence in the Home Straight did not finish the race off. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
