Slowly away, raced behind midfield on the inside, moved a bit closer after passing 800M, 2 wide on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

H Bowman was reprimanded for using the whip on consecutive occasions in 2 consecutive strides near the 150 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

C L Chau reported that from the outside barrier he was given the option of holding a more forward position. He said when STORMI commenced well he allowed it to stride forward to take advantage of the good start. Sent for sampling post-race.

After being crossed by CORLEONE near the 1200 Metres raced keenly for some distance thereafter.

Shortly after the start bumped with GASTRONOMIQUE. Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres was held up for clear running behind CONSPIRACY WITNESS when that runner was being shifted out to obtain clear running.

Shifted in on jumping and made contact with the starting gates. Shortly afterwards was then steadied when crowded by ABSOLUTE HONOUR which shifted out. L Ferraris reported that in this incident his right foot slipped in the stirrup and as a consequence he repositioned his foot into the stirrup near the 1500 Metres. He added that CONSPIRACY WITNESS did not travel well throughout the event and finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight. Trainer D A Hayes advised that the horse had pleased him leading into tonight’s race and, in his opinion, appeared to race "flat”. He added he would now consider applying sheepskin cheek pieces to the horse for its next race start. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Shifted out shortly after start and bumped, raced in 2nd, 2 wide, dropped towards rear in the back straight, 7 lengths back turning in, made no impression in straight.

Bumped shortly after the start. Z Purton reported that the intention was to hold a more forward position. He said after riding his mount along in the early stages he was caught wide and for this reason he elected to ride the horse in a conservative manner to obtain a position with cover. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Moderately away, raced better than midfield on the inside, dropped to midfield in the back straight, 5 lengths back turning in, one-paced in the run home.

Jumped only fairly and then was bumped shortly after the start. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After being shifted to the inside of ABSOLUTE HONOUR near the 100 Metres then raced greenly to the winning post.

Began well from gate 1, took the lead, led by 3/4L in the early stages, headed near 850M, 1-1/4L back turning in, peaked early in straight, ran on evenly to the line.

Average to begin, taken back to race at tail, commenced move near 1000M, took the lead 850M, led by 1-1/4L turning in, kept on very well in straight, won by 3-1/2L.

Bumped shortly after the start. In the early stages got its head up when being steadied away from CORLEONE. Near the 1500 Metres GASTRONOMIQUE was then steadied to avoid WISEMAN which shifted in slightly. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. The performance of GASTRONOMIQUE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GASTRONOMIQUE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
