Average to begin, positioned 3 wide better than midfield, 2 lengths or so back, wider turning in, showed very good response in straight, took the lead 50M, kept on well to hold off the challenger late.

Began awkwardly and made contact, raced 2 wide behind midfield, angled out after passing 450M, finished off very strongly, just beaten by a narrow margin.

Shifted in on jumping and was bumped. A Atzeni stated that his mount jumped well and was able to cross to the lead without being unduly pressured to do so. He said he was content in holding this position as GIDDY UP had barrier trialed well when ridden in a similar position. Trainer J Richards confirmed the instructions were to settle where comfortable and was satisfied with Jockey Atzeni’s decision to go forward and lead when it was able to obtain that position with limited pressure being applied.

Jumped awkwardly. Making the turn near the 600 Metres lay out and as a result ran wide. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.

Out with rest, raced at rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, passed some tired runners in the run home.

L Hewitson reported that his mount hung out during the race and failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of DAILY TROPHY, a last start winner, was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, DAILY TROPHY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.
