Bumped at the start. A Badel was fined the sum of $5,000 for breaching Rule 100(3)(ii)(f) in that he used his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on one occasion near the 150 Metres. Near the 100 Metres A Badel dropped his whip. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped well, raced better than midfield on the inside, angled out 550M, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong.

Near the 500 Metres was steadied to avoid ALSONSO (B Avdulla) which shifted out to obtain a position on the running rail. B Avdulla was advised to exercise more care. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Bumped on jumping and became unbalanced. Z Purton stated that his mount gave ground over the final 200 Metres and he could offer no explanation for its disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

On jumping shifted in and made heavy contact with the right side of the starting gate, resulting in its rider A Atzeni becoming unbalanced and being dislodged. The barrier manners of CHILL BUDDY were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHILL BUDDY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. Subsequently it was determined that A Atzeni was not suitable to fulfil his remaining riding engagement and permission was given for H Bentley to be substituted as the rider of ARMOUR WAR EAGLE in Race 10.
