DERRYN was trained by David Hayes with a record of 3 wins, 1 second and 3 third in 20 starts, winning distance from 1000M to 1200M including 1200M G2 Arrowfield 3yo Sprint (Royal Sovereign Stakes) under Mark Zahra that denied GLOBAL GLAMOUR in 2017, also finished 3rd in G1 Doomben 10,000 that behind REDZEL and COUNTERATTACK. However, he made no process at age 4 and retired after no success in 6 attempts. The son of HINCHINBROOK commenced stud duties in 2018 at Grangewilliam Stud, New Zealand with five black type contests winner. His serving fee in 2025 is NZD$ 7,500.DERRYNBLUE was purchased by trainer Dennis Yip at NZD$ 60,000 in 2023 NZB Ready To Run Sale where he finished 200M in 10.87s during the breeze up run. He was trained by Alex Oliveira in New Zealand and took part in 3 barrier trials where he finished 3rd in an 800M synthetic trial (23rd May 2024), sat at 2nd throughout in an 800M section (10th Sept 2024) that well behind DEALT WITH on good going while DEALT WITH were 2-time place-getters in listed contests, then shared lead early in an 850M trial (29th Oct 2024) and headed late for dead-heat 2nd on soft going. Same sire runners in HK ran on well at Happy Valley and his half-sister won over 1400M. The bay gelding should be able to handle up to mile.
