K Teetan pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 100(3(ii)(a) in that he used the whip in consecutive strides on at least 12 occasions prior to the 100 Metres. After considering the relevant matters in respect of penalty which included the severity of the breach, a previous warning issued to Jockey Teetan regarding his whip hand being raised above shoulder height earlier during the meeting, the horse finishing in the first placing and also taking into consideration that the Rule was only introduced at the commencement of the season, he was issued with a two-meeting penalty. As a consequence Jockey Teetan was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Thursday, 30 October 2025 and to expire on Monday, 3 November 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). Sent for sampling post-race. <14/10/2025 Appeal – Jockey Karis Teetan> Jockey Karis Teetan has lodged a notice of appeal against the severity of the penalty imposed by the Racing Stewards at the Happy Valley race meeting held on 8 October 2025 for a breach of Rule 100(3)(ii)(a) when he rode KYRUS DRAGON in Race 9 that evening. Jockey Teetan pleaded guilty to the charge and was suspended from riding in races for two race meetings from 30 October 2025 to 2 November 2025 (both dates inclusive). The Stewards of the Jockey Club have granted a suspension of the penalty imposed on Jockey Teetan pending determination of his appeal.<6/11/2025 Result of Appeal Hearing - Jockey K Teetan>The Appeal lodged by Jockey Karis Teetan against the severity of the penalty imposed by the Racing Stewards at the Happy Valley race meeting held on 8 October 2025 for a breach of Rule 100(3)(ii)(a), namely a suspension from riding in races for two Hong Kong race days, was heard by the Appeal Panel at 3 p.m. today. After carefully considering all evidence presented during the appeal and submissions from both parties, the Appeal Panel allowed the appeal against the severity of the penalty. The Panel ordered that the penalty be reduced to a suspension of riding in races for one Hong Kong race day on Wednesday 12 November 2025, together with a fine of HK$30,000. The Appeal Panel emphasised that this decision was made within the context of the current leniency period, which will cease to apply to race meetings from 12 November 2025, and should not be regarded as a precedent for future cases.

Began well, raced in 2nd, 2 wide, peaked on run 550M, dropped towards rear after passing 450M, emptied early in straight, eased final 100M.

M F Poon was reprimanded for using the whip on consecutive occasions in 2 consecutive strides near the 110 Metres.

Clean jump, positioned 2 wide slightly behind midfield, commenced move 500M, 3 lengths or so back turning in, made good progress in straight to take 2nd, nearest on line.

Bumped shortly after start, raced 2 wide better than midfield, 3 wide turning in, peaked early in straight, kept on evenly to the line.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 550 Metres was steadied to avoid STORMING DRAGON. Near the 300 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of DRAGON FOUR SEAS to continue into clear running.

Bumped shortly after start, sent forward to take the lead, travelled well to turn, peaked and headed early in straight, stayed on evenly to take 3rd.

Jumped only fairly. Shortly after the start was then checked when crowded by STORMING DRAGON which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Near the 550 Metres was checked when momentarily crowded by MIGHTY COMMANDER which shifted in when being steadied to avoid STORMING DRAGON. Near the 100 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of SPORTS LEGEND to continue into clear running.

Began well from gate 1, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground throughout, showed limited response in straight, no clear run final 75M.

Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped. After the event L Ferraris stated that he was obliged to make too much use of his mount in the early stages to take up the lead and this resulted in SPORTS LEGEND not being able to finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Slightly slow out and crowded, raced behind midfield on the inside, unable to maintain position from 550M, 7 to 8 lengths back turning in, eased early in straight. (See Racing Incidents.) (Irregular heart rhythm.)

Bumped on jumping.

Jumped only fairly and made contact with the left side of its starting gate, raced towards rear on the outside, 5 lengths or so back turning in, finished off well to make frame.

When questioned regarding his riding C L Chau stated that his instructions from a wide barrier were to settle the horse where comfortable. He said in the early stages when caught wide and without cover he elected to restrain his mount in the Back Straight to ensure that he complied with his instructions to obtain cover. He added that this resulted in SUPER JOY N FUN being settled towards the rear of the field. When questioned regarding his riding making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Home Straight, particularly the vigour he used on SUPER JOY N FUN, C L Chau stated that after making the Home Turn he ensured his mount was balanced and encouraged SUPER JOY N FUN to change its lead leg. He said when SUPER JOY N FUN did not change its lead leg in the early part of the Home Straight he continued to encourage the horse to improve but did not apply full vigour until near the 200 Metres after which SUPER JOY N FUN finished the race off reasonably well. After considering the explanation the Stewards advised Jockey Chau that, in their opinion, he should have placed more pressure on his mount sooner than what he did to ensure that it obtained the best possible placing in the field. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Moderately away, raced in midfield on the outside, very wide into straight, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

On jumping was crowded between DRAGON FOUR SEAS and SPORTS LEGEND, both of which shifted ground slightly.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced at rear on outer, 7 lengths or so back turning in, made no impression in straight.

Began well, positioned 1 to 2 lengths behind the leader on the inside, a bit closer on turn, 2 wide from 350M, took the lead early in straight, kept on strongly to the line and scored.

Bumped shortly after the start and became unbalanced. When caught wide and without cover in the early stages was ridden forward and when unable to cross runners to its inside was obliged to remain racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Near the 200 Metres was bumped by STORMING DRAGON and as a result became unbalanced.
