Stewards' Comments
Moderately away, raced 2 wide behind midfield, 4 lengths or so back, same margin back on turn, no clear run until 200M, weakened gradually thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
Jumped awkwardly. Sent for sampling post-race.
Moderately away from gate 1, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, unable to obtain clear run until approaching 100M, closed off well to take a place, no threat to the first two.
Incident Report
Bumped shortly after the start. When questioned regarding his riding on the Home Turn and the reason he shifted to the inside of RAGING RAPIDS to continue into clear running, K De Melo stated that when positioned close to RAGING RAPIDS he felt that near the 550 Metres he would have had to steady his mount in an attempt to come to that runner’s outside. He said with BIG STRIDE being positioned directly to his outside and WINNING MACHINE racing in advance of that runner he felt his better option was to continue to the inside where he was able to follow the fancied runners ROMAN CROWN and BETTER AND BETTER into the race. He added that after improving to the inside of RAGING RAPIDS, TOP TIME then became held up for clear running between the 300 Metres and after the 100 Metres where it then finished the race off strongly. The Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey De Melo in the circumstances were reasonable. Sent for sampling post-race.
Away well, positioned a length behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, no clear run until near 200M, kept on evenly to the line.
Incident Report
Bumped shortly after the start.
Bumped start, positioned 3 wide slightly behind midfield, 3 lengths or so back, similar position on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
Shifted in on jumping and was bumped. Held up between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres. Over the concluding stages made contact with BETTER AND BETTER due to both runners shifting ground.
Taken back from the widest draw, raced behind midfield on the outside, 3 lengths or so back turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter.
Incident Report
Bumped shortly after the start. Over the concluding stages made contact with ROMAN CROWN due to both runners shifting ground. Approaching the finish BETTER AND BETTER then raced in restricted room between TOP TIME and ROMAN CROWN which shifted out slightly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.
Began only fairly, raced behind midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, no daylight early in straight, cleared near 200M, finished off very strongly, led close home.
Incident Report
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Jumped with them, raced 2 wide in midfield, 3 lengths back, there to turn, no clear run early in straight, made no progress thereafter.
Incident Report
On jumping was bumped by ROMAN CROWN which shifted in. Briefly held up near the 300 Metres. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of J Orman, 7th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race. J Orman was reprimanded for using the whip on consecutive occasions in 2 consecutive strides near the 250 Metres.
Made contact at start, sent forward to race prominently, 2 wide, there to turn, took the lead approaching 300M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner late.
Incident Report
Bumped shortly after the start. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Began well, sent forward to take the lead, led by 1/4L in the middle stages, peaked and headed 300M, weakened gradually final 100M.
Incident Report
No report.
Jumped well from gate 11, tracked leaders, 3 wide, no cover throughout, peaked early in straight, weakened gradually inside final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)
Incident Report
Bumped shortly after the start. After the event H T Mo advised that he was instructed to go forward. He said DEAL COMPLETED failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight and weakened. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. The performance of DEAL COMPLETED, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DEAL COMPLETED will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Began well from a wide draw, trapped 4 wide with in midfield in the early stages, found a 3 wide spot near 750M, 2 lengths or so back turning in, showed limited response early in straight, ran on evenly to the line.

Before being allowed to race again, BILLION TWO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
