Away well, raced better than midfield, 2 wide, angled out 350M, failed to close off in straight. (See Racing Incidents.) (Blood in trachea.)

Near the 500 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by FORTUNATE SON which shifted out when being steadied to avoid LUCKY STATEMENT which was giving ground. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began smartly, sent forward to take the lead, led by 1/2L turning in, kept on well in straight to hold off the challengers.

Jumped only fairly. From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 100 Metres raced tight between STORMI and SUPER SICARIO.

Made contact shortly after start, raced in midfield on the outside, no cover throughout, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter.

Bumped at the start. Over the final 250 Metres lay in and proved difficult to ride out. Over the concluding stages lay in towards SUPREME AGILITY and was obliged to be corrected by its rider H Bentley. As a consequence Jockey Bentley was unable to ride his mount out to the finish of the event.

Began awkwardly, raced 3 wide with cover at rear, difficult to settle in the early and middle stages, very wide into straight, made no progress in the run home. (A small laceration to the right front leg.)

Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters by FIGOPUMPKIN and became unbalanced.

Crowded start, raced 2 wide behind midfield, found rail near 850M, moved a bit closer along the rail on turn, kept on well in straight to make frame, always held.

Shifted out shortly after the start and was bumped. Near the 700 Metres was hampered when crowded between LEAN HERO and GOOD LUCK WIN which was taken out by LUCKY STATEMENT when that runner shifted out when commencing to give ground. Raced very wide and without cover from the 700 Metres.

Bumped start and unbalanced, raced 2 wide in midfield, similar position on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.) (Blood in trachea.)

Bumped at the start. In the middle stages raced keenly. For some distance near the 1000 Metres was steadied away from STORMI. After the event K C Leung reported that his mount was badly held up behind LUCKY STATEMENT for some distance after the 500 Metres when that runner commenced to give ground which resulted in FORTUNATE SON losing momentum after being checked at that stage of the race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.

Slightly slow out, raced towards rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, made no impression in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Crowded shortly after the start and became unbalanced. After the event H Bowman stated that when the pace steadied in the middle stages he commenced a forward move. He said when unable to cross runners his mount raced wide and without cover from the 700 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, LEAN HERO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Bumped shortly after start and unbalanced, positioned 3 lengths behind the leader on rail, slightly improved along the rail on turn, angled out 350M, finished off strongly, just beaten by a nose. (See Racing Incidents.)

Near the 1000 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from LUCKY STATEMENT.

Taken back from gate 11, raced behind midfield on the outside, very wide into straight, made some progress in the run home.

Bumped shortly after the start. After the event Apprentice E C W Wong stated that from the 500 Metres his mount gave ground noticeably and when not in a competitive position he did not ride it out to the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of LUCKY STATEMENT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY STATEMENT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
