Average to begin, raced in 2nd, 1/2L back turning in, kept on well in straight to take a place, always just held.

On jumping was bumped by FIND MY LOVE, resulting in MONARCH COUNTY shifting in and away from FIND MY LOVE and making contact with JOLLY COMPANION. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began smartly, sent forward to take the lead, led by 1/2L turning in, kept on well in straight to hold off the challengers.

Shifted out shortly after the start and as a result was corrected by its rider. Sent for sampling post-race.

Bumped shortly after start, raced 2 wide behind midfield, there to turn, finished off evenly.

Crowded start, raced 2 wide behind midfield, found rail near 850M, moved a bit closer along the rail on turn, kept on well in straight to make frame, always held.

On jumping was checked when crowded between GENIUS BABY and MONARCH COUNTY which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider after making contact with FIND MY LOVE.

Away well, raced better than midfield, 2 wide, angled out 350M, failed to close off in straight. (See Racing Incidents.) (Blood in trachea.)

Bumped at the start. Over the final 100 Metres was held up for clear running between MONARCH COUNTY and WINNING MONEY and as a result could not be ridden out to the finish of the event.

Slightly slow out, raced towards rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, made no impression in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

On jumping became unbalanced when it bumped heavily with JOLLY COMPANION.

Bumped start and unbalanced, raced 2 wide in midfield, similar position on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.) (Blood in trachea.)

Jumped awkwardly. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. After the event Z Purton stated that his mount was unsuited by the pace of the event being run inside of standard time throughout the early and middle stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Began awkwardly, raced 3 wide with cover at rear, difficult to settle in the early and middle stages, very wide into straight, made no progress in the run home. (A small laceration to the right front leg.)

Jumped only fairly. Approaching the 150 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded between GENIUS BABY and SAME TO YOU, both of which shifted ground slightly.

Taken back from gate 12, raced at rear throughout, never a factor.

Crowded shortly after the start by WINNING MONEY. After the event M Chadwick stated that his mount, which was having its first race start at Happy Valley, raced greenly throughout the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.

Bumped shortly after start and unbalanced, positioned 3 lengths behind the leader on rail, slightly improved along the rail on turn, angled out 350M, finished off strongly, just beaten by a nose. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
Brushed a rail leaving the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race. Jumped only fairly and shortly afterwards was severely checked when crowded between WINNING DIAMOND which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider and GENIUS BABY which shifted in after making heavy contact with JOLLY COMPANION. In the Home Straight raced greenly and hung in. As a result Apprentice E C W Wong had difficulty testing his mount in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Made contact shortly after start, raced in midfield on the outside, no cover throughout, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter.

After the event Y L Chung stated that from a wide barrier his instructions were to go forward. Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.

Taken back from gate 11, raced behind midfield on the outside, very wide into straight, made some progress in the run home.

Was a late withdrawal acting on veterinary advice after being found to be lame in its right front leg on arrival at Happy Valley. Before being allowed to race again, ISLAND BREEZES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
