Slightly slow out, raced behind midfield on the inside, 2 wide on turn, unable to obtain clear run until final 100M, made minor progress thereafter.

Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by EVERSTAR which shifted out. Leaving the 1100 Metres was steadied when crowded by POWER KOEPP which, after being taken in by GOLDEN EMPIRE (K De Melo) then shifted in and away from that runner. K De Melo was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to correct his mounts sooner than what he did on this occasion. Making the Home Turn was crowded for room by EVERSTAR which shifted in and away from GOLDEN EMPIRE. Sent for sampling post-race.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Over the final 150 Metres raced tight between GRACIOUS EXPRESS and FUN ELITE.

Out with rest, raced in midfield on inner, saved ground on turn, showed limited response early in straight, no clear run near 150M, weakened gradually close home.

Jumped only fairly. Near the 300 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded between NORDIC DRAGON which shifted in slightly and GOLDEN EMPIRE which shifted out. Near the 150 Metres VERY GRATEFUL then raced tight between GOLDEN EMPIRE and NORDIC DRAGON which shifted in when giving ground and as a result made contact with NORDIC DRAGON approaching the 100 Metres.

Taken back from gate 9, raced at tail, 5 lengths or so back, same margin back turning in, made good progress in straight to take a place, no threat to the first two.

Bumped shortly after start, sent forward to race prominently, took the lead near 800M, led by 3/4L turning in, kept on well in straight but unable to hold off the winner close home. (Lame right front leg next day morning.)

Approaching the 100 Metres was bumped by VERY GRATEFUL. After the event A Hamelin reported that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and after being taken wider when MARVEL AND GOLD commenced to give ground from the 600 Metres his mount did not finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Away well, raced prominently, 2 wide, allowed rival to cross near 600M, 2 lengths back turning in, angled out 350M, peaked early in straight, kept on same pace to the line.

Shortly after the start shifted out and was bumped. Approaching the 100 Metres was eased when racing in restricted room between WINGS OF WAR and GRACIOUS EXPRESS which shifted out. After the event M Chadwick stated that after being crossed in the middle stages his mount raced keenly and as a result did not respond strongly to his riding in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. <10/7/2025 Additional Veterinary Report> EVERSTAR, which performed disappointingly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. EVERSTAR was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer Y S Tsui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, EVERSTAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Away with them, raced 3 wide with cover behind midfield, travelled keenly in the early stages, steadied near 600M, very wide turning in, finished off evenly. (See Racing Incidents.)

After the event A Atzeni stated that he was instructed to go forward and ride his mount in a similar manner when it barrier trialed on 12 June 2025. He said in the early stages MARVEL AND GOLD hung out and making the turn after the 600 Metres when not in a competitive position he elected to desist from riding it out in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The racing manners and performance of MARVEL AND GOLD, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MARVEL AND GOLD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
