Shifted in at the start, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Raced keenly in the early stages. After the event B Avdulla reported that after improving to the outside of PATCH OF WATCH upon entering the Home Straight his mount responded only fairly before giving ground over the final 100 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SZERYNG will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

Commenced well, positioned 2 wide, 1-1/2L back, showed good response early in straight, peaked on run 100M, ran on evenly to the line.

Jumped only fairly and then was steadied when crowded between TOURBILLON GOLFER and SZERYNG which shifted in.

Began well from gate 1, took the lead, led by 1/2L turning in, kept on well in straight but unable to hold off the first two final 75M.

On jumping shifted in and bumped with LUCKY MCQUEEN, resulting in TEAM TEAM FOLKS being taken out and being steadied to avoid PATCH OF WATCH.

Taken back from gate 10, raced towards rear on the outside, 8 lengths or so back, travelled greenly in the early stages, found rail near 700M, same margin back turning in, made no impression in straight.

Jumped only fairly and then shortly after was steadied to avoid SEA SAPPHIRE which shifted out. After the event H Bowman stated that when he felt there was something amiss with his mount near the 200 Metres he eased it down from the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of WINNING CIGAR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING CIGAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
