Taken back from the widest draw, raced at tail, 10 lengths or so back in the middle stages, moved a bit closer on turn, 8 to 9 lengths back turning in, made some progress in straight.

Jumped well, raced 2 wide behind midfield, angled out after passing 500M, 5 lengths or so back turning in, made minor progress in the run home.

After the event, B Avdulla reported that his mount responded only fairly in the Home Straight after leading and he had some concerns with the manner in which it finished the race off. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA SPANGLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

After the event, H Bentley stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily in the early stages, however, approaching the Home Turn commenced to race keenly. He said in the Home Straight MAGIC CONTROL did not respond to his riding which he attributed to the horse not running out the 1200 Metres in Group 2 company. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
