Trainer C W Chang confirmed that the instructions were to take up a forward position. He added such instructions were the same instructions he issued at the horse’s last start on 5 January 2025 when NEW POWER settled further back on that occasion after beginning awkwardly.

Fast into stride, sent forward to take the lead, led by 3/4L turning in, kept on well in straight but unable to hold off the winner on line.

After being crossed by REGENT GLORY leaving the 900 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from that runner for some distance. C L Chau was warned in relation to using his whip in a manner where his whip arm was raised above shoulder height.

Moderately away, raced in 4th, saved ground on turn, angled out early in straight, finished off evenly.

Jumped awkwardly. When questioned, R Moore stated that in the Home Straight he endeavoured to obtain clear running between SONIC PURSUIT and CRYSTAL POWERFUL leaving the 250 Metres. He said when YEE CHEONG SPIRIT did not respond to his riding he then became held up from the 200 Metres when disappointed for clear running when both SONIC PURSUIT and CRYSTAL POWERFUL shifted ground after which his mount finished the race off in a one-paced manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Average to begin, raced in midfield early, slightly improved after passing 700M, 3/4L back turning in, kept on well in straight to take a place.

Bumped at the start. Near the 600 Metres made contact with the running rail. After the event, L Hewitson stated that under pressure in the Home Straight his mount failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Leaving the 700 Metres raced keenly after being crossed by SWEET DIAMOND.

Near the 600 Metres improved to the inside of YEE CHEONG SPIRIT when racing keenly and shortly afterwards was steadied when YEE CHEONG SPIRIT (R Moore) shifted in. R Moore was advised to exercise more care. After the event, K Teetan stated that from his wide barrier his instructions were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. Trainer D J Hall confirmed the instructions and said he issued such instructions as GLORIOUS EXPERT had raced too keenly at its last start when ridden in a forward position.
