From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. For some distance after the 550 Metres was held up for clear running behind EXCELLENCE VALUE which was commencing to give ground. Approaching the finish could not be ridden out when it improved close to TOURBILLON PRINCE.

Jumped with them, raced prominently, hard ridden after passing 400M but showed no response, weakened final furlong.

After the event, K Teetan reported that with the early and middle stage being run outside of standard time ILLUMINOUS was unable to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between TAMRA BLITZ and LESLIE which shifted out slightly. Near the 900 Metres, when racing keenly, struck the heels of MARKWIN and blundered when MARKWIN shifted out slightly and ILLUMINOUS (K Teetan) shifted in. K Teetan was reprimanded.

Away well, positioned a length behind the leader, made contact 350M, hard ridden from 300M, finished off evenly.
