Average to begin, raced 2 wide in midfield, 3 wide from 650M, carried wider 450M, made no impression in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Began well, sat 1 to 2 lengths behind the leader on rail, angled out 400M, bumped early in straight, took the lead 200M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner final 100M.

Approaching the 250 Metres was shifted to the inside of VIGOR ELLEEGANT to continue into clear running. Approaching the 150 Metres then had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being directed to the outside of FATAL BLOW. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on THE PERFECT MATCH at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, THE PERFECT MATCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

Jumped with them, raced towards rear on the inside, 2 wide from 850M, 4 lengths back turning in, made good progress early in straight, no extra final 125M.

Began well, raced behind midfield on the inside, 5 lengths or so back, moved a bit closer along the rail on turn, made good progress early in straight, peaked 100M, ran on evenly to the line. (Lame right front leg next day.)

In the middle stages raced keenly and for a short distance near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid VIGOR ELLEEGANT.

Made contact at start, raced 2 wide towards rear in the early stages, 3 wide from 800M, 5 lengths back turning in, made good progress in straight to make frame without threatening. (Blood in trachea.)

Slow to begin. Approaching the 100 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of SWEET DIAMOND to obtain clear running and then raced tight to the inside of SWEET DIAMOND for some distance near the 50 Metres.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 100 Metres was momentarily crowded between GIMME FIVE and VIGOR ELLEEGANT which was taken out slightly by THE PERFECT MATCH.

When questioned, H Bowman stated that although his instructions were to ride his mount conservatively in the early stages, GLORY CLOUD was slow to begin and as a result settled at the tail of the field. He said with the early pace of the event being run inside of standard time GLORY CLOUD did not travel well and he was obliged to encourage his mount to maintain its position in the middle stages. He added after shifting GLORY CLOUD to the outside of HAPPY DAY near the 400 Metres, GLORY CLOUD finished the race off only fairly. Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions issued. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Made contact at start, raced at tail, 6 lengths or so back on turn, showed limited response early in straight, weakened and eased final 100M.
