Quickly into stride, showed good speed to take the lead, enjoyed the easy lead in the middle stages, kept on very well in straight and scored.

After being crossed by GRACIOUS EXPRESS near the 900 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from that runner. BEAUTY CRESCENT was then shifted to the outside of GRACIOUS EXPRESS and raced wide and without cover thereafter. Sent for sampling post-race.

Made contact with the right side of its barrier on jumping, raced 3 wide with cover towards rear, angled out after passing 500M, made no impression in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

For a short distance near the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining a narrow run between JOHANNES BRAHMS and BEAUTY CRESCENT.

Taken back from gate 14, raced 2 wide at rear, 9 lengths back turning in, made no progress in the run home.

Approaching the 50 Metres was steadied away from KING MILES and shifted to that runner’s inside to obtain clear running.

Made contact at start, raced in 2nd, 2 lengths or so back turning in, kept on well in straight to take a place without threatening.

When questioned, C Y Ho stated that he had not intended on leading the event but had anticipated taking up a more forward position than previous starts due to a lack of pace in the event. He said KING MILES jumped well today and when other runners around him did not show the intent to lead, KING MILES led without being pressured to do so. When questioned regarding his riding on the Home Turn, he stated that when JOHANNES BRAHMS commenced to improve to his outside, he allowed KING MILES to shift away from the rail slightly to ensure his mount was afforded with clear running. He added he was not of the opinion that he had left sufficient room for a runner to improve to his inside and after the 400 Metres was surprised when he received a call from K Teetan, rider of SILVERY BREEZE when that runner improved to his inside. C Y Ho was advised that, wherever possible, he should attempt to ride his mounts in a more competitive manner.

Began only fairly and crowded, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, failed to close off in straight.

Jumped awkwardly. Approaching the 1200 Metres MAGNIFICENT NINE (A Badel) shifted out when being corrected by its rider, resulting in MASTER MASTERMIND, which was racing keenly, being checked away from MAGNIFICENT NINE. A Badel was reprimanded. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion that MASTER MASTERMIND had bled, the horse is permanently barred from any further racing. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began fairly from gate 1, raced better than midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, peaked early in straight, ran on evenly to the line.

Crowded at the start and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 1200 Metres was steadied to avoid MASTER MASTERMIND when that runner was taken out.

Shifted in at start and made contact, raced 3 wide behind midfield, 7 lengths back turning in, failed to make any progress in straight.
