Incident Report
Crowded shortly after the start. Sent for sampling post-race.

Slowly away, raced 2 wide at rear, 4 to 5 lengths back turning in, made minor progress in straight. (Lame right front leg next day.)

When questioned regarding his riding, H Bowman stated that the instructions were to find an on-pace position with cover. He said after GLORY CLOUD commenced well, he settled outside the leader HAYDAY in the early stages, however, his mount raced keenly. He added when TRIUMPHANT MORE improved to his outside, he elected to allow that runner to cross rather than contesting that position as he felt this would be detrimental to the chances of GLORY CLOUD settling in the middle stages of the event. After considering his explanations, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Bowman in the circumstances were reasonable. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began well, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground throughout, kept on same pace in straight.

For some distance after the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid LOVING VIBES (C Y Ho) which shifted in when not clear. C Y Ho was reprimanded.

Made contact at start, taken back to race at tail, 6 lengths back on turn, made good progress in straight without threatening.

Average to begin, sent forward to race prominently, took the lead approaching 1200M, led by 3/4L in the middle stages, challenged by rivals turning in, peaked and headed 200M, weakened final 100M. (See Racing Incidents.)

Approaching the 150 Metres became held up for clear running behind HAYDAY and could not be ridden out until leaving the 100 Metres.

Commenced well, positioned 2 wide, 2-1/2L back, similar position on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened inside final furlong.

Away with them, raced in 2nd, 2 wide, challenged the leader turning in, kept on very well in straight, always just held.

Began fairly from the widest draw, raced 3 wide with no cover, 2 lengths or so back, similar position on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened gradually final 100M.

Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between TRIUMPHANT MORE which was taken out by RAGNARR and GLORY B which raced tight to the inside of GOLDEN RISE which shifted in slightly.

Out in line, took the early lead, headed approaching 1200M, allowed rival to cross 1000M, sat 1-1/2L behind the leader in the middle stages, kept on well in straight, always just held.

Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned behind HAYDAY.

Out with rest, raced 2 wide behind midfield, angled out 450M, very wide into straight, finished off very strongly to be nearest on line, just beaten by a narrow margin.

From the 200 Metres until the 100 Metres was held up for clear running behind TRIUMPHANT MORE.

Jumped with them, raced behind midfield on rail, 4 lengths or so back, saved ground on turn, made no progress in straight.

After travelling a short distance became unbalanced when crowded between GLORY B and GOLDEN RISE.

Made contact at start, raced towards rear on the outside, moved closer 1100M, positioned slightly behind midfield in the middle stages, challenged the leader turning in, hit the front 200M, kept on well to the line and scored.

After the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid RAGNARR. After the event, H Bentley reported that after being badly crowded and becoming unbalanced shortly after the start, his mount did not travel comfortably thereafter. He said when he was concerned with his mount’s action in the Home Straight, he did not continue to ride it out when not in a competitive position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of GLORY B, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GLORY B will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
