Crowded at the start. From the 800 Metres was taken wider by FLAGSHIP WARRIOR and in this incident made contact with FLAGSHIP WARRIOR. Near the 300 Metres was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.

Taken back from gate 12, raced in midfield on outer, no cover for the majority of the race, peaked and crowded early in straight, weakened gradually thereafter.

Blundered on jumping. After the event, K De Melo reported that his mount responded only fairly when placed under pressure in the Home Straight and he could offer no explanation for its performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.

Crowded on jumping between FALLON and SWEET ENCOUNTER, both of which shifted ground. Near the 1100 Metres commenced to race keenly and as a result got its head up when being checked away from FORTUNATE SON. FLAGSHIP WARRIOR then continued to race keenly in the middle stages and refused to settle. Near the 300 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between SWEET ENCOUNTER and SUNSTRIDER. In this incident, FLAGSHIP WARRIOR made contact with the hindquarters of SUNSTRIDER. As a result FLAGSHIP WARRIOR did not obtain clear running until near the 150 Metres. Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions were to take up a forward position from its wide barrier.

Began fairly, raced 2 wide at rear, angled out 650M, very wide into straight, made good progress in the run home to take 2nd, no threat to the winner. (See Racing Incidents.)

Shifted out at the start, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. After the event, B Avdulla reported that his mount, which is only lightly raced, did not appreciate racing in amongst other horses and finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced towards rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, made some headway in straight.

Slightly inconvenienced at start, raced behind midfield on the inside, angled out approaching 500M, showed limited response early in straight, not enough room near 200M, ran on evenly to the line. (Roarer.) (See Racing Incidents.)

Bumped on the hindquarters at the start and became unbalanced. After the event, A Atzeni reported that his instructions were to take up a forward position from the outside barrier. He said when unable to obtain a position closer to the rail in the early stages, SWEET ENCOUNTER was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SWEET ENCOUNTER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SWEET ENCOUNTER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
