Away with them, raced behind midfield on the inside, 7 lengths or so back turning in, made some headway in straight.

Jumped only fairly. K Teetan was fined the sum of $2,000 in relation to using his whip in a manner where the hand holding the whip was above shoulder height on one occasion near the 80 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

Commenced well, raced 2 wide slightly behind midfield, 6 lengths or so back turning in, failed to make any progress in straight.

Shortly after the start was bumped by RIDING TOGETHER. A short distance later DO YOUR PART became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by RIDING TOGETHER.

Began only fairly, raced better than midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, kept on evenly early in straight, weakened final 100M.

Near the 700 Metres L Ferraris adjusted his left stirrup iron. After passing the 200 Metres lay in under pressure, obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount on two occasions. L Ferraris stated after jumping awkwardly and then being crowded shortly after the start by WIN METHOD which shifted out he was unable to hold a more forward position as instructed.

Taken back from a wide draw, raced at rear on the outside, still 9 Ls back turning in, made good progress in straight without threatening.

Jumped awkwardly. From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. For a short distance near the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of HOTT SHOTT.

Jumped with them, raced in midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, finished off well to take a place.

Made contact at start, sent forward to take the lead, led by 1-1/2L turning in, kept on well early in straight, peaked and headed 100M, weakened gradually close home, finished 2nd.

Passing the 1200 Metres was momentarily crowded by VIOLET STAR which shifted in.

Jumped well from gate 11, raced better than midfield on the outside, 3Ls back turning in, finished off evenly.

Shifted out shortly after the start and made contact with RIDING TOGETHER. L Hewitson could offer no excuse for the horse’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Out with rest, raced in midfield on the outside, 4 to 5 lengths back turning in, closed off well to make frame without threatening.

After the 500 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of MAGNEMITE as MAGNEMITE commenced to give ground. LOVERO then raced tight between MAGNEMITE and VIOLET STAR for some distance thereafter. Z Purton could offer no excuse for the horse’s failure to run on in the Home Straight. Trainer B Crawford stated that whilst the horse settled slightly further back than intended he could offer no explanation for its failure to finish the race off. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Slowly away, raced at rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened inside final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Began smartly from gate 1, raced in 2nd, 1-1/2L back turning in, showed very good response in straight, took the lead approaching 100M, kept on well to the line and scored.

K C Leung reported that he was asked to hold an on-pace position but HOTT SHOTT failed to run out tonight’s 1650 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Moderately away, raced behind midfield on outer, no cover for the majority of the race, very wide into straight, failed to close off in straight. (Rider reported that his saddle shifted back on jumping.)

Incident Report
The performance of MAGNEMITE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MAGNEMITE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
