Began only fairly from gate 1, raced prominently on the middle track, kept on well until approaching 100M, weakened gradually final 50M.

Bumped at the start. Approaching the 300 Metres shifted to the inside of METRO POWER to obtain clear running and as a result made contact with STRAIGHT TO GLORY. Near the 150 Metres raced tight between METRO POWER and STRAIGHT TO GLORY which lay out. Prior to declaring weighed-in Trainer D J Hall viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were grounds for a protest/objection against STRAIGHT TO GLORY being declared the winner due to SPARKLING FELLOW racing tight to the outside of STRAIGHT TO GLORY near the 150 Metres. When Mr Hall declined to lodge a protest/objection and the Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds, having regard to the margin of ¾ length between the two horses at the finish weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

For a short distance near the 250 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between MASTER OF ALL and WATCH LEGEND which was giving ground.

Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that after her mount jumped awkwardly and made contact with LIGHTNESS OF MUSIC it settled further back than intended. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Average to begin, positioned a length or so back on the middle track, hard ridden from 250M, showed very good response, took the lead 50M, kept on well to the line and scored.

Jumped only fairly, shifted out and made contact with SPARKLING FELLOW. J Orman stated that his mount, in his opinion, did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions and may be better suited by being stepped back up to 1200 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have a laceration to the right hind leg.

M F Poon stated that his mount raced too keenly in the early stages and as a result could not finish off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. Sent for sampling post-race.

J Moreira stated that his mount came under pressure from the 500 Metres and failed to finish the race off thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be displaying an epiglottic entrapment.

Jumped awkwardly and lost ground, raced towards rear on the stands' side, hard ridden from 300M but showed no response, weakened thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)

Bumped at the start. After travelling a short distance was eased to avoid LOOKING BRIGHT which shifted in and away from ALPHA STRIKE.

Began well from gate 10, positioned 1 to 2 lengths behind the leader on the stands' rail early, dropped towards rear gradually after passing 600M, failed to make any progress final 300M.

Jumped only fairly. K Teetan stated that his mount, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong, was stirred up prior to the event. He said when WATCH LEGEND commenced to give ground over the concluding stages he eased it down when he felt there may be something amiss with it. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, WATCH LEGEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
