Kicked a rail whilst parading, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Jumped only fairly and then was bumped shortly after the start by MID WINTER WIND. Approaching the 500 Metres was steadied to avoid MEOWTH when that runner gave ground when being steadied away from EMBRACE ABERDEEN.

Jumped well from gate 1, raced slightly better than midfield on the inside, 4 lengths or so back turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter. (Blood in trachea.)

Had its right hind plate refitted in the holding stables, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Leaving the 400 Metres was bumped by SPORTS LEGEND which shifted out. Bumped near the 200 Metres.

Taken back from gate 8, raced at tail, still 9 lengths back on turn, very wide into straight, made good progress in the run home to take a place, no threat to the first two.

H Bentley confirmed the instructions were to go forward as it did in a barrier trial on 17 April 2026.

Average to begin, raced slightly behind midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, finished off well to take 2nd without threatening the winner.

Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped. Shifted out leaving the 400 Metres and was bumped. Near the 200 Metres shifted out and made contact with EMBRACE ABERDEEN.

Made contact shortly after start, raced 2 wide in midfield, 4 to 5 lengths back turning in, showed no response early in straight, weakened thereafter. (Bled.)

H Bowman stated that the instructions were to go forward but he was obliged to make too much use of his horse in the early stages to take up a position outside the lead. He said as a result HAPPY INDEX could not finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Moderately away from the widest draw, raced better than midfield on the outside, moved a bit closer after passing 1100M, 2nd in the middle stages, outpaced early in straight, weakened inside final furlong.

Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by SPORTS LEGEND. Near the 600 Metres made contact with the running rail.

Shortly after the start shifted out and made contact with COPARTNER FLEET when being shifted behind runners from a wide barrier. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MID WINTER WIND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Made contact shortly after start, raced towards rear on the inside, 7 lengths back turning in, difficult to obtain clear run early in straight, made some headway thereafter.
