Approaching the 1500 Metres was steadied to avoid BRILLIANT FIRE (H Bentley) which shifted in when not clear. H Bentley was reprimanded. In this incident SPEEDY TRIDENT shifted out when being steadied, resulting in SMART BEAUTY, FAMILY FORTUNE and PERFECT PEACH being hampered when carried wider. Raced keenly in the early stages.

Taken back to race 3 wide towards rear, similar position on turn, failed to close off in straight.

K C Leung reported that from the outside barrier his instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MAGIC COSMOS, which finished tailed out on the second consecutive occasion, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MAGIC COSMOS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Away well, raced better than midfield on the inside, saved ground throughout, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter. (See Racing Incidents.)

H Bentley reported that after obtaining an on-pace position in the early stages his mount failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight but could offer no excuse for the horse’s disappointing run. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of BRILLIANT FIRE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BRILLIANT FIRE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Slightly slow out, raced behind midfield on the inside, hard ridden from 500M but showed no response, weakened and eased early in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Jumped only fairly. B Avdulla reported that his mount travelled satisfactorily in the early stages but he was concerned with its action when it came under pressure from the 800 Metres which resulted in him not testing the horse in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of WISEMAN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WISEMAN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
