On jumping was steadied when crowded by SWORD POINT which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.

Away with them, raced 2 wide in midfield, 3 lengths or so back turning in, unable to obtain clear run until approaching final 100M, weakened thereafter.

Shortly after the start was bumped and became unbalanced.

Began well from a wide draw, taken back to race towards rear on the outside, 4 lengths or so back turning in, made good progress in straight to take 2nd, no threat to the winner.

L Ferraris reported that in the Home Straight his mount was one-paced and finished the race off only fairly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Jumped well, sent forward to take the lead, travelled well to turn, kept on strongly in straight, won comfortably.

H Bowman was fined the sum of $5,000 for being unable to make the weight. As such permission was given for H Bentley to be substituted as the rider of LO RIDER. Made contact with a rail when entering the track, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race. In the early stages raced keenly when being steadied to allow NUMBERS to cross. H Bentley reported that his mount was able to obtain a trailing position in the early stages but did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight and was disappointing. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Bumped start and unbalanced, raced 3 wide with cover in midfield, similar position on turn, showed limited response early in straight, weakened final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

Shifted in abruptly at the start and made contact with BRAVEHEARTS. D Probert could offer no excuse for his mount’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SWORD POINT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SWORD POINT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
