Stewards' Comments

1SAGACIOUS LIFE黃寶妮

Incident Report
The tongue tie was replaced at the Start. Jumped awkwardly. Sent for sampling post-race.

2STEPS AHEAD周俊樂

Average to begin, raced 2 wide in midfield, wider from 600M, 3 lengths back turning in, no clear run until final 100M, ran on evenly to the line.

Incident Report
Leaving the 500 Metres made contact with MASSIVE SOVEREIGN which shifted in slightly. Approaching the 350 Metres lay in and away from MASSIVE SOVEREIGN and made contact with HONG LOK GOLF when it was being corrected by its rider C L Chau. Sent for sampling post-race.

3STUNNING PEACH鍾易禮

Jumped awkwardly, raced better than midfield on the outside early, moved closer 1000M, took the lead 900M, led by 1/2L turning in, kept on very well in straight and scored.

Incident Report
Passing the 1000 Metres was checked to avoid SAGACIOUS LIFE (Apprentice P N Wong) which shifted in abruptly as it was being corrected by its rider. As the Stewards were satisfied that Apprentice Wong had taken the appropriate action to straighten her mount no action was taken.

4MASSIVE SOVEREIGN艾道拿

Shifted in at start and made contact, raced in midfield on the inside, angled out 600M, no clear run early in straight, cleared 200M, made some progress thereafter.

Incident Report
Shifted in near the 500 Metres and was bumped. When questioned regarding his riding B Avdulla stated that he was able to take up a handy position throughout the early and middle stages. He said when SAGACIOUS LIFE shifted in abruptly towards the rail near the 900 Metres he was required to allow MASSIVE SOVEREIGN to stride forward to avoid SAGACIOUS LIFE forcing him wider. He said as he did so MASSIVE SOVEREIGN then commenced to race keenly behind STEPS AHEAD for some distance thereafter. He added that leaving the 600 Metres he elected to allow MASSIVE SOVEREIGN to improve to the outside of STEPS AHEAD to prevent it from continuing to over-race and to also make a forward move as he was concerned MASSIVE SOVEREIGN would take some time to respond to his riding under its top weight of 135 lbs. After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Avdulla were reasonable in the circumstances.

5MICKLEY潘明輝

Crowded start and stumbled, raced 2 wide towards rear, angled out 500M, made minor progress early in straight, peaked 150M, kept on same pace to the line.

Incident Report
No report.

6HONG LOK GOLF班德禮

Jumped well, raced better than midfield on the inside, angled out 550M, peaked early in straight, weakened final furlong.

Incident Report
Near the 350 Metres was badly crowded by STEPS AHEAD which shifted in. Sent for sampling post-race.

7TALENTS AMBITION田泰安

Began only fairly and made contact, raced behind midfield on the inside, 3 lengths back turning in, unable to obtain clear run until approaching final 100M, finished off strongly to take 2nd.

Incident Report
Jumped only fairly.

8MARKWIN蔡明紹

Crowded start, raced behind midfield on the outside, 5 lengths or so back turning in, passed some tired runners in straight.

Incident Report
Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

9RUBYLOT布文

Jumped with them, raced prominently, 2 wide, allowed rival to cross 850M, angled out 550M, 1/2L back turning in, kept on evenly in straight.

Incident Report
Bumped at the start. H Bowman was reprimanded for using the whip on 2 consecutive strides near the 450 Metres.

10SKY HEART楊明綸

Fast into stride, sent forward to take the lead, headed near 900M, 2nd on turn, weakened early in straight, eased final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
Bumped at the start. Near the 350 Metres was bumped and became unbalanced.

11BUNDLE AWARD艾兆禮

Began well from a wide draw, taken back to race towards rear on the outside, moved closer after passing 950M, made contact 600M, 2 lengths or so back turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter.

Incident Report
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

12JOHANNES BRAHMS潘頓

Taken back from gate 13, raced at rear on the outside, hard ridden after passing 500M, very wide turning in, made good progress in straight without threatening.

Incident Report
Held up for clear running approaching the 400 Metres. Near the 400 Metres endeavoured to improve into a narrow run between VOYAGE SAMURAI and SKY HEART when there was not quite sufficient room to do so. As JOHANNES BRAHMS continued to improve to the inside of SKY HEART it then was checked near the 350 Metres when SKY HEART was taken in by HONG LOK GOLF which shifted in when being badly crowded by STEPS AHEAD (C L Chau) when that runner lay in and away from MASSIVE SOVEREIGN. C L Chau was severely reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting in to avoid making contact with other runners. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

13VOYAGE SAMURAI梁家俊

Out with rest, positioned 2 wide slightly better than midfield, angled out 600M, 1 to 2 lengths back turning in, made minor progress early in straight, peaked 200M, weakened gradually final 100M.

Incident Report
Near the 350 Metres was eased to avoid JOHANNES BRAHMS when that horse was checked. K C Leung reported that his mount was disadvantaged by being pressured in the lead in the early stages which resulted in it giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of VOYAGE SAMURAI, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, VOYAGE SAMURAI will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

WVHUGE WAVE巴度

Taken back from gate 12, raced at rear on the inside, 5 lengths or so back turning in, no clear run until final 100M, made some progress thereafter.

Incident Report
Withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, HUGE WAVE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
