From an inside draw ridden along to settle 4th one off the fence, weakened significantly in the last 150M.
Moderately away, raced behind midfield on outer, no cover for the majority of the race, very wide into straight, failed to close off in straight. (Rider reported that his saddle shifted back on jumping.)

MERCHANT NAVY was owned by Ballydoyle that was trained by Ciaron Maher on his first 5 attempts with the success in G3 McNeil Stakes and 10th in Golden Rose Stakes. He transferred to Aaron Purcell’s yard afterwards as Ciaron Maher has been suspended for 6 months where he landed G1 Ascot Vale Stakes under regular jockey Mark Zahra on the first attempt for the new handler, then took part in Newmarket Handicap under light weight and piloted by Chad Schofield to finish 3rd. The son of FASTNET ROCK was sent to Europe and joined Aidan O'Brien’s team to seek for more success and better value for his post-race career. He has had a good start to win G2 Ireland Greenlands Stakes on his first European attempt and followed by 1200M G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes under Ryan Moore. The colt joined the stallion roaster of Coolmore after retired from racing and now stationed at Kooringal Stud with 3 black type contest winners including 2023 G1 Goodwood Handicap champion ROYAL MERCHANT. In 2025, his fee is AUD$ 13,200. CAPTAIN LINK was owned by current syndicate member and trained by Greg Eurell in Australia with 1 win, 2 seconds and 1 third in 6 starts. After 3 jump outs, he led early and held off challenge to just win a 1000M event under Ben Melham’s hard riding on his debut at Cranbourne, then finished 2nd in a 1200M benchmark 64 handicap contest that behind KING ZEPHYR.
