Began smartly, raced 2 wide in midfield, 3 lengths or so back, commenced move approaching 400M, finished off very strongly to score.

Jumped well, sent forward to take the early lead, headed near 1300M, 3/4L back on turn, showed good response in straight, hit the front 200M, kept on well but unable to hold off the winner final 50M.

Moderately away from a wide draw, sent forward to race prominently on the outside, took the lead after passing 1300M, led by 3/4L on turn, kept on well early in straight, peaked and headed 200M, weakened close home.

After the event, K C Leung reported that from the outside barrier he was given no specific instructions, but was given the option to take up a forward position if circumstances permitted. He said after commencing well he took advantage of his mount’s good start and allowed it to stride forward and lead the event.

Jumped only fairly, raced slightly better than midfield but trapped wide, moved a bit closer in the middle stages, a length or so back turning in, peaked early in straight, weakened gradually inside final furlong.

After the event, Apprentice P N Wong stated that her instructions were to go forward. She said VIVA HUNTER was not the best to begin and she rode her mount along in the early stages to comply with her instructions. She said VIVA HUNTER was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and failed to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

After the event, K Teetan reported that his mount did not appreciate racing inside other horses and as a consequence did not finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Began awkwardly, positioned 5 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground throughout, failed to make any progress in straight.

Near the 250 Metres was steadied away from BILLIONAIRE SECRET (K Teetan) which shifted out. K Teetan was severely reprimanded and advised he must stop riding and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances. After the event, C L Chau reported that his mount did not travel well at any stage and failed to run on in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Out with rest, raced at rear on the outside, 7 lengths back, peaked on turn, weakened early in straight, finished tailed out, unacceptable performance.

Mr C W Chang, trainer of FORTUNE WHISKEY, was fined the sum of $5,000 for a breach of Rule 155(5) for improper conduct in that he threw his race book at the direction of FORTUNE WHISKEY to encourage the horse to enter the saddling stall on two occasions. The performance of FORTUNE WHISKEY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE WHISKEY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
