Held up between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres. After the race an endoscopic examination was conducted on ELEGANT LIFE at the request of Trainer T P Yung. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ELEGANT LIFE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Jumped only fairly, raced behind midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, no daylight early in straight, cleared approaching 150M, made good progress thereafter to take a place, no threat to the first two.

Near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid NEWBORN MIRACLE and as a result shifted out and made contact with ELEGANT LIFE. Approaching the 300 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between NEWBORN MIRACLE and KING ALLOY. As a result NOBLE FANS was shifted to the inside of NEWBORN MIRACLE to obtain clear running. Near the 200 Metres NOBLE FANS became badly unbalanced when improving into a narrow run to the inside of FUN N FUN TOGETHER which was commencing to give ground. Sent for sampling post-race.

Made contact at start, raced 3 wide with cover behind midfield, wider turning in, made some progress early in straight, peaked on run 150M, ran on evenly to the line.

On jumping blundered, resulting in THE GOLDEN KNIGHT becoming unbalanced and losing ground. Near the 200 Metres became held up for clear running behind NEWBORN MIRACLE and as a result was held up for clear running between the 200 Metres and the 100 Metres.

Shifted in at start and made contact, sent forward to take the lead, led by a length in the middle stages, peaked and headed early in straight, weakened 300M, eased final 150M. (See Racing Incidents.)

Incident Report
Shortly after the start was bumped by FUN N FUN TOGETHER which shifted in. From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the first turn near the 800 Metres commenced to race keenly, shifted out, made contact with GOLDENTRONICMIGHTY and became unbalanced. Between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running. Noted to have sustained a small laceration to the left front leg after the race.

Shifted out shortly after start and made contact, raced better than midfield on the inside, sat right behind the leader turning in, no clear run early in straight, cleared after passing 200M, made no progress thereafter.

Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped. When questioned Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his instructions were to go forward. He said in the early stages he was obliged to make use of his mount to cross runners to his inside which resulted in FUN N FUN TOGETHER obtaining the lead and setting a strong pace in front. He added that in the middle stages he was able to control the pace but in the Home Straight his mount did not respond to his riding and gave ground under pressure. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Began well from gate 1, raced in midfield on the inside, 2 wide turning in, showed some response early in straight, peaked 150M, kept on same pace to the line.

After the event A Atzeni reported that his mount was bumped near the 800 Metres and became unbalanced. He said GOLDENTRONICMIGHTY was obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event before finishing the race off only fairly in the Home Straight. Noted to be making a respiratory noise after the race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer”.

Moderately away, raced 2 wide towards rear, angled out 500M, made little progress early in straight, peaked 150M, ran on evenly thereafter.

Near the 200 Metres was steadied when crowded between ELEGANT LIFE which shifted in when endeavouring to obtain clear running to the inside of AWESOME TREASURE and NEWBORN MIRACLE which shifted out.

Away well, raced 3 wide in midfield, commenced move 650M, 4 wide turning in, finished off well to take 2nd, always held.

Made contact shortly after start, raced 2 wide better than midfield, 3 wide from 700M, took the lead early in straight, kept on very well to the line and scored.

After the event Y L Chung stated that from a wide barrier he had to make use of his mount in the early stages to hold a more forward position. He said when unable to cross runners to his inside his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, PARTERRE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
