Jumped well, raced in 2nd, 2 wide, travelled comfortably in the middle stages, took the lead early in straight, kept on well to the line and scored.

Shifted in at start, raced 2 wide in midfield, 2-1/2L back turning in, no clear run early in straight, ran on evenly to the line.

Shifted in on jumping and was bumped. Lay in in the early part of the Home Straight, resulting in its rider Y L Chung changing his whip to his right hand approaching the 200 Metres.

Bumped start, positioned a length behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened thereafter.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.

Bumped start, raced 2 wide better than midfield, 3 wide turning in, showed limited response early in straight, weakened gradually inside final furlong.

After the event Z Purton stated that his mount failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight when under pressure and made a respiratory noise. Trainer M Newnham could offer no explanation for the horse’s performance but would now give the horse a break for the remainder of this racing season. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race.

Crowded shortly after start, raced behind midfield on the inside, 2 wide on turn, made good progress in straight to take 2nd, nearest on line.

B Thompson pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 100 Metres (see HERO SPARK).

Jumped well from a widest draw, raced better than midfield on the outside, no cover for the majority of the race, kept on evenly early in straight, weakened gradually final 100M.

In the early stages raced keenly. Near the 300 Metres shifted in and made contact with SMART ENGINEER. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Began only fairly, raced towards rear, 5 lengths back turning in, taken wide in straight and made good progress to make frame, no threat to the first few.

On jumping was crowded between WONDERSTAR and MIRACLE FIGHTER which shifted in. DIRIYA was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Slightly slow out and crowded, positioned 3 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, showed limited response early in straight, weakened final 200M.

Jumped well, raced behind midfield on outer, 4 lengths or so back turning in, failed to close off in straight.

Jumped only fairly. In the early stages raced ungenerously and making the first turn hung out. B Thompson (TURF PHOENIX) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of HERO SPARK, resulting in HERO SPARK losing its running and being checked. In accordance with previous practices, B Thompson was fined the sum of $20,000 in lieu of a one-day suspension. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 1 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.

Jumped only fairly and bumped, raced towards rear on the inside, angled out 450M, kept on same pace in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Just prior to entering the track slipped over, resulting in its rider H Bentley being dislodged. JUDY’S GREAT was examined by the Veterinary Officer immediately after the incident and again upon arrival at the starting gates and passed suitable to race. Bumped shortly after the start. After the event H Bentley stated that his mount felt free in its action whilst proceeding to the Start and during the race but the horse did not appreciate the track conditions which, whilst still rated as "Good”, had effects of some light rain which had fallen during the meeting. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
