Began awkwardly, raced behind midfield on the inside, saved ground on turn, made no progress in straight. (See Racing Incidents.)

Near the 1000 Metres was briefly crowded by SPEEDY SMARTIE which shifted in. As a result KING OBERON raced keenly and was steadied to avoid SPEEDY SMARTIE near the 800 Metres. Briefly held up approaching the 350 Metres when being shifted to the outside of SPEEDY SMARTIE. Sent for sampling post-race.

Away with them, raced 2 wide slightly better than midfield, 3 wide turning in, showed limited response early in straight, weakened final 100M.

Jumped well, raced prominently early, positioned 2 wide better than midfield after passing 900M, 2 lengths back turning in, hit the front 250M, kept on very well in straight to hold off the challenger late.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Leaving the 500 Metres raced tight to the inside of TAIHANG SCENERY.

Shifted out at start and bumped, raced at rear on the inside, saved ground on turn, made some progress in straight.

Jumped awkwardly. Near the 350 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between GLORIOUS EXPERT and SUPER ELITE which was taken out by KING OBERON. As a result FAIRY HORSE was held up between the 350 Metres and approaching the 250 Metres.

Average to begin, raced in midfield on the inside, 2 wide turning in, no clear run early in straight, cleared approaching 200M, finished off very strongly to take 2nd, just beaten by a head.

Approaching the 700 Metres raced keenly when being steadied to obtain cover behind SPEEDY SMARTIE. Near the 350 Metres was bumped and taken wider by KING OBERON.

Away well, sent forward to take the early lead, headed near 950M, 2nd in the middle stages, showed some response early in straight, peaked 150M, ran on evenly to the line.

On jumping shifted out and away from DRACO. Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running. After the event Z Purton stated that when his mount commenced only fairly he elected to ride it in a conservative manner in the early stages in accordance with his instructions. Trainer Y S Tsui stated that Jockey Purton was given the option of riding the horse in a conservative manner if it did not begin well. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Out with rest, raced 2 wide towards rear of midfield, 6 lengths back turning in, made minor progress early in straight, peaked 150M, ran on evenly to the line.

Bounded on jumping and as a result lost ground. Throughout the early stages raced keenly, got its head up and refused to settle.

Jumped only fairly. Near the 900 Metres commenced to race keenly and as a result was steadied away from JOYFUL LIFE. Between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind FAIRY HORSE.

Bumped start, raced at rear on the outside, 8 lengths or so back, same margin back turning in, made no impression in the run home.
