H Bowman, the rider of 5th placegetter, MIGHTY COMMANDER, pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. H Bowman was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 28 June 2025 and to expire on Wednesday, 2 July 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty the Stewards were satisfied that his actions had compromised the horse’s finishing position. When questioned H Bowman stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position but his mount was bumped at the start and as a result he elected to obtain a trailing position behind JUMBO FORTUNE. He added that in the early stages MIGHTY COMMANDER raced keenly and approaching the 1000 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from SIMPLE HEDGE. After the race an endoscopic examination was conducted on MIGHTY COMMANDER at the request of Trainer C Fownes. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MIGHTY COMMANDER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Sent for sampling post-race.

Began well, positioned 4 lengths behind the leader on the inside, saved ground on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened gradually inside final furlong. (See Racing Incidents.)

Moderately away, raced 2 wide slightly better than midfield, 2-3/4L back turning in, finished off well to take a place without threatening the first two.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Leaving the 150 Metres was shifted to the outside of MIGHTY COMMANDER to continue into clear running.

Moderately away from gate 1, raced better than midfield on the inside, 2 lengths or so back on turn, peaked early in straight, weakened final 100M. (See Racing Incidents.)

Approaching the 200 Metres was checked when disappointed for clear running between COSMO NAVIGATOR and DRAGON STAR, both of which shifted ground slightly. As a result JUMBO FORTUNE shifted in, made contact with COSMO NAVIGATOR and did not obtain clear running until near the 100 Metres.

Bumped shortly after start, raced slightly behind midfield on the outside, difficult to settle in the early stages, commenced move 400M, finished off evenly.

Jumped only fairly. Between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres was held up for clear running between DRAGON STAR and ATOMIC BEAUTY. After the event A Badel stated that whilst his mount was held up in the Home Straight, in his opinion, it would appreciate being stepped up in distance for its next race start. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Began smartly, raced 3 wide better than midfield, no cover on for the majority of the race, 1-1/2L back turning in, finished off strongly to score by a narrow margin.

After the event K Teetan stated that his mount enjoyed a good run during the event, however, finished the race off in a one-paced manner in the Home Straight and he could offer no explanation for its performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. <22/5/2025 Additional Veterinary Report>After the race, DRAGON STAR was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. DRAGON STAR was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer Y S Tsui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have sustained a left front tendon injury. Before being allowed to race again, DRAGON STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Began awkwardly, raced 2 wide behind midfield, 4 lengths or so back, same position on turn, kept on same pace in straight.

After the event Y L Chung stated that with his mount stepping up in distance tonight he was instructed to settle where comfortable. He said when COSMO NAVIGATOR jumped well and raced keenly he allowed it to stride forward and lead.

Jumped awkwardly, taken back to race towards rear on the outside, 6 lengths or so back turning in, taken wide in straight and made good progress to be nearest on line.
